  1. I'm not quite talking about improving current PvP mechanics, it's more about adding another aspect by making grinding easier. And as you said, it sounds trolly and !!!FUN!!! No one in their right mind would opt to use Special Raticate while there are way more viable options. Also my suggestion doesn't have anything to do with using these sorts of Pokemon in ranked-PvP. I, personally, wouldn't use any of these myself. Non ranked PvPs are still bland in my opinion and the required grind leads to it is what I think. You may of course disagree with that, and you already have by calling it "not that bad". But, to me it feels pretty bad, especially the leveling. Also, I just wanted to ask a question. Since you're a daycarer your answers would be more reliable. How long does it take to train, let's say a Lvl 20 Scyther to 100 with EV training (2 max EVs)? And how long is the same thing for let's say Bulbasaur, a Pokemon that requires less Exp?
  2. Yup, Seafoam Island is the best. And if I remember correctly, Seafoam Island B4F surf has the best Pokemon to level up. Has Golducks, Golbats, Dewgongs etc.
  3. Poison Heal will not remove the status, it will basically nullify poison's effect and restore 1/8 of max HP at the end of each turn. It's quite useful because it pretty much grants immunity to any status and on top of that, gives you HP!
  4. The current game mechanics do not limit you in any such way notable. Its a grind, and the grind is the same for everyone pokemon. Some require more dedication, or hours. But they all end up at the same place. If you want to use a normally not used pokemon, go head! But it may take longer than say a over used pokemon. Be ready for a struggle if it isen't mainstream, being normal is easy. But being unique takes a bit, but you'll all end up at the same place. And what I'm saying is the game should help those who want to have at least 1 of every (fully evolved at least) Pokemon at level 100, like me. I'm not asking for it just for me, but for anyone else who's in the same boat and of course those who would jump in that boat, should the changes be made. However, I wouldn't have much to say if you think it would be ineffective since the players who think this way are a minority and the suggested changes would do more harm then good. I'd see it reasonable and fair, but wouldn't agree with it. Thanks for your input and a good discussion, I appreciate it. That's a pretty good idea! I wouldn't mind if Power Items were boss rewards and were given one at a time. Would probably be better if they were untradeable as well but I'm not very sure. The missing features definitely result in PvP being more plain, but what I think is that it's plain because PvP is all about winning. If I asked some players if they would use a team consisting of; let's say Raticate, Arbok, Beedrill, Rapidash, Dewgong and Dodrio or any 6 below average Pokemon, most people would say "no". Because it's ineffective for them to train or pay for the training of these Pokemon, it simply takes too much time/$. If the grind was more friendly, we would probably get "no"s again but I'm sure we'd end up with more "yes"es compared to before. I'm quite sleepy at the moment, I hope you get what I mean.
  5. I don't know much about coding myself, but I guess it would be possible to implement these judging by what's already in the game. Though they may actually take too long to code, would probably not be their priority. This is more of a discussion though, I wouldn't mind if it took them a year to make these changes, should they find them reasonable. You have every right to disagree and I'm more than happy to read opposing thoughts as they widen my perspective. But, I'm not okay with people persistently taking what they read the wrong way and putting words in my mouth (not implying it's intentional, but it gets tiring for me). I have never said that grinding should be removed. I just believe that currently it's very limiting in a way that training Pokemon other than those that will be used for the story and/or in ranked PvP is pointless due to the excessive amount of time it takes. What I think is, grinding (EVs and especially leveling) should be more friendly to help players find the opportunity to train and test out Pokemon which they normally wouldn't, and have fun doing so. I honestly believe most people don't use more than 20-25 fully leveled Pokemon for battling (this is just a guess, not based on any statistics) in a game with around 150 (?) fully evolved Pokemon because there's no need to. They would much rather hunt/PvP/etc. instead of training a Modest Machamp, or even just a Jolly Beedrill because training takes way too much for us to try out every Pokemon. In my opinion, the PvP aspect of the game is too plain. Now I can't force or ask anyone to try out new/unconventional Pokemon builds, but I'm sure there are people like me who want to take a break from competitive PvP and have fun with non-ranked battles where they can use uncommon (battling wise) Pokemon or builds. But, repeating the main point of this thread, it takes way longer than it should and discourages us to do so. Battling shouldn't be limited to 25 Pokemon in a game with ~300 Pokemon. I know that the game doesn't put this limit, but the current mechanics leads to it.
  6. Bringing out the best of our Pokemon is definitely (for most) the main goal and that's why I've been talking about "adding a different aspect" to PvP. Not replacing it. However, I don't agree with your "heartless deed" comment  It's just for fun, Pokemon are there to serve us in the end, right? Everyone should be as honest as they can be, not just staff, I'm all for it. But honesty shouldn't be mistaken with having the freedom to say anything you want. It should involve respect. Anyway, I see the point you're making and I don't disagree with it at all. I'm aware of the fact that PRO is an MMO and how an MMO should be. That's one of the main reasons I'm playing this game and not Showdown or another online Pokemon game with breeding, because I like the challenge. And that is exactly the reason why I did not suggest that grinding should be removed, I just believe EV training and especially leveling should be more friendly, i.e. should take less time, to enable different aspects become more meaningful/possible. It was great to read your thoughts about this suggestion, thanks for taking the time to contribute in this thread.
  7. Fair enough, but the thing is, I haven't said anything against that in any of my posts. I have only suggested that with more friendly training mechanics, there could be an additional aspect to the game which wouldn't hurt anyone and help those who don't just PvP competitively to hang around in the game for longer.
  8. Fair point, this way is probably better to keep the interest for longer periods of time. I also just want to clarify that I'm not against the current rarity, nature and ability mechanics, I believe everything regarding those is as they should be. Though I still think EV training and especially leveling could be a lot more friendly to help those who may want to PvP just for fun and without putting any thought into where they will be placed in the ladder. And I believe this could also help with the longevity of the game, adding a different aspect to the game. And thanks for sharing your thoughts, I appreciate it.
  9. Great suggestion. Needed especially when you go to the Moon etc.
  10. Pretty narrow minded comment to say the least. Seeing it come from an administrator is the worst part. I wouldn't have imagined a suggestion to be labelled "stupid" by a staff member. "I don't think the same way you do, so your thought is stupid" isn't a valid answer to anything in today's world, I hope you realize that along with the fact that you're the one who should be feeling bad for such a poor response. Don't get me wrong, I'm not offended at all, it's just disappointing. Winning surely is fun, but it's very likely you'll get bored of repeating the same thing over and over again. This could be different for some people of course, and since I have respect for what they think is "fun" & I am not going to judge them for it, I won't call them stupid. Besides, there are many people who aren't playing PRO just for competitive PvP. As I have said in my original post, there are also collectors, shiny hunters and more to name. Trying out silly Pokemon builds is another very valid way of having fun in Pokemon and although you don't seem to agree with it, there are considerable numbers of players on OR/AS WiFi battles as well as Showdown with these sorts of builds. What's wrong or stupid with having fun outside of ranked battles? I have not forgotten that PRO is a WIP. If I did, I would've included the addition of missing items, moves, abilities etc. in my OP. I totally appreciate the efforts of everyone who's involved in the making of this game, and I understand that all these people have lives outside of PRO. And in my post, I have not asked for anything to be done "right now", I just explained my thoughts and asked for others' thoughts including those who disagree. p.s. Sorry for the late reply, I always use the "new posts" link on the forum and didn't realize I had a reply to my thread.
  11. I agree. The moon has to have a PC even if it doesn't make sense. There are other "out of place" things in the game (not just PRO), the whole game is based on "out of place" stuff anyway. Why not add something convenient? This makes a lot of sense actually. Good thought.
  12. I'm not sure about that, you may be right. Though the problem still exists with Pokemon who don't evolve/who did not evolve in a certain gen(those with high base exp, basically), such as Snorlax, Scyther and so on... Levelling them up takes considerable amount of time. Rare candies do obviously help, but you would need lots of them if you're levelling up a number of Pokemon. My main point, as addressed in the title, is the time it takes to have a high number of max level Pokemon. It limits PvP to being competitive only. Physical Alakazam doesn't work in competitive PvP, I do not disagree with that or the other gimmicky builds I've spoken about earlier. But you're missing my point here, I'm saying PvP doesn't necessarily have to be competitive. Why don't we just have battles with stupid builds to add more fun to the game? See the "point" in making a physical Alakazam build with Psycho Cut instead of Psyshock? About exp... Like I said in my response to the previous quote, the exp formula could well be beneficial on Pokemon who have pre-evolutions, levelling a Drillbur, Marill, Gastly, Abra etc. could be easy enough. But the formula really hurts Pokemon with no pre-evolutions/those with high base exp. Anyway, my point still is the fact (at least from my pov) that PRO, especially its PvP aspect, is limited with its current mechanics. I would like to see improvements on that, and I would be more than happy to read other thoughts on this. Whether they agree or disagree with me. I would especially like to read the staff members' views on this.
  13. This response does not answer my concerns or disprove my thoughts on limiting the potential fun factor of the game. And I have not suggested that the grind part of the game should be removed. I suggested that it should help bring different aspects to the game. Removing the grind is removing PRO lol And that is exactly the opposite of what I suggested.
  14. This response does not answer my concerns or disprove my thoughts on limiting the potential fun factor of the game. And I have not suggested that the grind part of the game should be removed. I suggested that it should help bring different aspects to the game.
  15. First of all, this is all my opinion. I don't aim anything at anyone and I am in no way disrespecting the staff or the players of this game. You may disagree with me, but please try to explain your point of view respectfully if that is the case. tl;dr at the end. Alright... PRO is a very good, and in my opinion the best MMO game based on Pokemon, I deeply appreciate the efforts of anyone who's involved in the making/running of the game. But I believe some things aren't handled correctly and these things limit the game's potential. One of the first things suggested to new players is generally "do not evolve your Pokemon until 90+ level". This obviously sounds strange to anyone who isn't familiar with the game because it's a joy to train your Pokemon until it can level up and be able to evolve, helping you progress throughout the story. But unfortunately, this particular suggestion is very accurate because evolving your Pokemon before it's at a high level could cost you a very long time in the long run, because the required Exp to level up rises drastically on an evolved Pokemon. I believe Exp mechanics is this way so the story mode is a little bit challenging, but I think there are other ways to ensure this, such as placing stronger Pokemon at Gyms etc. Now, the story part of the game is still pretty doable. The bigger problem, in my opinion, starts after that. EV training and levelling a single Pokemon takes A LOT of time. From my experience, EV training (depends on the EVs obviously, but in general) takes around 2hrs on average, and levelling a lvl 20 Pokemon to 100 takes about 4-6hrs or even more depending on the Pokemon (Snorlax vs Rattata, for example). Finding the right Pokemon is another story, especially if the said Pokemon is one of the rarer ones and/or if you need its hidden ability etc. This is an okay amount of time for people who just want to play ranked-PvP and aim for top whatever in the ladder. But I believe PRO has a lot more to offer. There are all sorts of different players in the game, hunters, collectors, shiny hunters, PvPers, people who just want to have fun and a lot more I can't name... This also includes those who just want to PvP without thinking about their rating/place in the ladder, just for fun. I am one of those people. I do, eventually, battle for the top 5/10/25 in the ladder but my main aim in this game is to have fun battles more than anything. But guess what, the grindfest stops me from doing so; explained below. I want to PvP for fun, try out stupid/funny/unconventional builds just for giggles. That's where the fun is at for me. I would love to KO a Goodra with a Physical Gengar using Ice Punch, bring a Golem down to its Sturdy with Blizzard on Raticate, use a sweeping Onix and hundreds of other things. But I cannot do that and normal PvP at the same time, because it's costly as hell. Either $$$ or time. Finding the right Gastly (a fairly common Poke) for a physical build, training it is taking a considerable amount of time, and multiplying that time with other "hundreds" of builds I spoke about results me in having white hair before I manage to do that. I've already spoken a lot and I believe I have got my point across so I don't want to keep writing even more about the problem, I want to move onto the solution. I believe in the handhelds, the experience formula is a lot more 'friendly' (correct me if I'm wrong, I haven't played them in a very long time). I'm not saying make an exact copy of that (though I would probably like it), but give us a more friendly experience formula. And also implement Power Items for EV training, Macho Brace doesn't cut it especially if you need several different EVs on a single Pokemon. Implement Exp. Share (this "may" not be that necessary, would like to read your thoughts on this). This will help with a lot of things, I and many others won't just be sad when they get a modest Mudkip, they'll say "I'll just use a special Swampert for giggles, lol" instead and have fun! I will probably be getting "daycarers will lose" as a response. No they won't. Training a Pokemon will still take a considerable amount of time, especially if there are more than one. Rich/lazy ones will still use these services. Daycarers will need to drop prices, but instead of training 1 Pokemon in 10 hours, they'll train 2-3 (numbers may not represent realistic values). And there will be a lot more Pokemon for them to train, because people can actually find it reasonable to train their adamant Abras. And please do not respond with "this is an MMO". I'm aware of it, but MMO doesn't necessarily mean "grind for days, make everyone get rekt and try to be number 1!!!". Pokemon has so much potential to be fun, PRO is currently limiting it with its mechanics, in my opinion. Tl;dr - Bring more fun to the game by reducing the grind factor, let us find it reasonable/feasible to run stupid builds such as physical Alakazam, sweeping Skarmory, special Machamp etc. for fun and giggles.
  16. I stop reading here. Same. Just ask for UU battles, PU battles in chat. Try different builds, no-one's holding you. Though I would agree if you said "levelling up should be easier". If levelling up was easier, I would've had all sorts of different builds by now including stuff like Physical Alakazam. The grind fest limits the game's potential especially when it comes to PvP.
  17. Just found Light Clay @ Diglett's Cave 1st spot. No screenshot unfortunately.
  18. Bump. (please let me know if this isn't allowed)
  19. Rules: - MS: 380k - Bidding ends at 25/09/2016, 9pm UTC - Raise bids at reasonable increments (no +1k) - I reserve the right to not sell if I feel the price is too low. Start: 500k Instant: None as of yet
  20. Same happened to me. I uninstalled the previous version then it worked.
  21. Just found Tympole @ Mt.Mortar 2nd Spot and 3rd Spot as well. No screenshot unfortunately, didn't know it wasn't listed.
  22. Gone. lock pls
  23. Very helpful thread, thanks.
  24. Beldum, iirc, has the lowest non-legendary catch rate at 3. (Source) And according to this website, your chance of catching a 1hp, level 7, paralysed Beldum is 4.74% with a normal, 6.42% with a Great and 7.97% with an Ultra Ball. I'm afraid you were pretty unlucky, though it doesn't necessarily sound like a bug.
  25. As a Blue player who's also unhappy about the issue, I'm afraid the staff can't do anything. It's the players who dictate the server economy, so it's up to the players to fix/stabilise it.
