Yes it is true that mudkip in game is both water and ground and it should be only water. This was just overlooked even tho in the update logs it says that mudkip type has been fixed, so it will be fixed sooner or later. in game how it should be

If this happened after the last update of the game, it might be connected to that so you might want to try reinstalling the game.

That guide is very useful in general and I still look at it from time to time but like Pelfie said some of the things in it might be outdated and the guide might not show the whole picture. This assault vest on goomies for example, I have hunted a lot of them and never got one. So it might be that that item was removed from them or that it is just a very very slim chance to get it. Lagging tail for example, I know that still pops on slowpokes and not just in Dragon den, as I used to get a lot of them in Sevii islands.
