economy is actually probably in the top 3 of the most important things in an mmo, probably even the most important. nah, player-player interactions will always be #1. I'm still thinking about Fly though. What would make not having fly ok, would be a player's ability to trade/battle over distance. So perhaps having a trading post and battling station in each P.C. could be a solution. That way people won't have to travel across regions to make a simple trade.

Thisll sound really sarcastic but the movie you refer to is called Pokemon the first movie.... Yeah, That's right! It's just been so long... My favorite part of that movie is the troll Dragonite (like at the beginning) =3

Hmm, my favorite game... That's tough, I would probably have to split it between Pokemon Sapphire and Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Red Rescue Team. Show: Split between Origins and the original season of the anime. Movie: The one with Mewtwo and Mew and the cloned pokemon. Manga: Never read any pokemon manga.

I think that this is something that sounds like it doesn't really work, but once you actually play it and get immersed in it, it becomes something really fun. I had an idea similar to this one, but capture the flag.

or "Clan" But yeah, I don't think it really matters.

Re: Team Wall Street <t>He guys, I'm gonna actually join Isaac's guild. Gonna go ahead and disband Wall Street Early. Sorry about that. I just decided that with a vacation coming up (that would lead to me not being around for the release, probably). And I'm just gonna be busy when school starts up, so I won't be a good guild leader. Sorry for the inconvenience =(</t>

Re: [PSE] Pokemon Super Elites <t>gib me executive position, and I'll join. Was thinking for a long time and I decided I wouldn't be a good boss for something like team wallstreet.<br/> <br/> <br/> jk, I'll join regardless of the rank you give me ;)</t>

Yes, but level 50 scaling wouldn't make it SUPER easy like everyone is implying. yeah... no. You will spend at least one day on just catching a pokemon that can be viably used (and this isn't even considering those pokemon with really low encounter rates). So catching 20 competitive pokemon should take around a month to catch. Then you have to train them, and get the required moves, etc. That will take another weekish. So you are looking at over a month of constant gameplay to only get about 20 comps worth. Getting them all to level 100 would take another week-week and a half. Keep in mind, that's all boring grinding, not fun gameplay. Was more a statement directed at other people, and was more of a warning... a 50 system takes all pokemon over the level of 50 and for the duration of the battle reverts their level back to 50. It allows players to more easily battle eachother. It really isn't complicated at all... Nothing. and I made that point. That people will naturally just do 50s. It was a statement directed at the people who seemed to be convinced that Official tournaments and ranked battles will be level 100s. I'm not sure as to how there are going to be level 10 battles. 50 will probably be by far the most popular. 100s will only have players if they are forced to (i.e. if tournaments and such force you to have 100s)

but it's not far fetched to think it might. You would be a fool to dismiss it.

And a level scaling down to 50 for pvp battles would stop that? really... So, you are implying that I can catch 20ish pokemon, and make them comp in 1 day if we have a scale down to 50 system... I call bs on that. Please don't try to argue that someone can be a competitive player with only 6 pokemon, that will just prove how much you don't know about comp. There will still be A LOT of grind and effort with a scale down to 50 system (I think the other MMO has proven that quite well). but I think I will just wait and let you see how much of bs grind will be in the game if we are forced to level all of our pokemon to 100; cause obviously you guys have your minds dead set on it right now, and it will be impossible to convince you otherwise. edit: also, you guys seem to think that people will automatically want to do comp at 100s. Well, from past experience, what people did was limit themselves to 50 naturally (which auto banned all pokemon who evolved after 50). I would not be surprised if the same thing happens here.

When you consider any sort of suggestion, you have to consider the repercussions it has on all aspects of the game. You're biased toward competitive battling--and there's nothing wrong with that. However, this game is not a battle simulator. A HUGE part of the endgame for Pokemon IS a grind fest. Whether you're hunting for Pokemon with better IVs, training Pokemon to level 100, or looking for shinies, it's all a grind. You have to put in work to reap the benefits. I don't like to use the word never, but I highly doubt that this game, an MMO, will ever reach the same "competitive battling" scene as the one you're hoping for. It's simply impossible to do that whenever a Pokemon is considered complete as soon as it reaches whichever level (past 50) that it learns its last competitive move. The easier it is for all players to be on the same playing field, the more difficult it will be to maintain longevity. 1. Not every player who will play PRO has the intention of becoming a competitive battler. People will buy, sell, and trade competitive Pokemon consistently even if they aren't battlers. Competitive battlers most likely won't be the OT of the Pokemon they use, and they most likely won't be the person who trained them to level 100. That's just how it works in this type of setting. 2. This would not have a positive effect on tournaments. Using a level 50 Pokemon and a level 100 Pokemon in a level 50 battle isn't the same thing, and neither is using a level 30 Pokemon and forcing it to level 50. Are you suggesting that these lower Pokemon should be able to use level 50 movesets? or that level 50 Pokemon should be allowed to use higher-level movesets? The "competitive" scene in PRO will not be a cookie-cut design of a battle simulator or "real" competitive battling. There aren't going to be perfect Pokemon floating around everywhere. As the game grows, there will certainly be more chances for near-perfect Pokemon, but this won't happen anytime soon... and I highly doubt that they'll be available for players who aren't willing to grind in some form or fashion (hunting or training). Well, what happened at Pokemmo (now don't dismiss me yet, hear me out), what ended up happening is that people would just naturally limit themselves to 50's. The issue with that is that if you ever accidentally over leveled a pokemon, that pokemon essentially became worthless and was a huge discouragement to the player. I'm thinking on a system scale, and am not focusing on a few aspects. Yes, grind is good in an MMO, but too much grind is bad, really bad. And without a level modifier down to 50 (not up) then you start getting into "too grindy". 1. It really wouldn't hurt the economy. In fact it would actually help in that people just don't randomly lose vast amounts of wealth due to a single level up over 50. 2. I'm very aware that 50's are not the same as 100's (by a very very small amount). I thought I made it clear that the level would be lowered to 50, not raised. As for movesets, there are very few that don't get the moves they need before 50. And yet, the competitve aspect is one of the main selling points of the game. And you are literally saying "keep it much less than perfect to keep the economy well".
