Hi guys! I found this game by accident and I'm already in love with it but I have some questions:

1) What's the most convenient/useful starter pokemon? I don't have any preference so I'd like to go with the optimal one.

2) What's the most efficient way to hunt a pokemon with the right nature/ability? I will not have access to Sync at the beginning so before throwing pokeballs AoE I'd like to know :Grin:

3) A friend of mine bought 100 Coins and he's willing to buy a vampire costume for me, will he be able to trade it to me?

4) I read that Mega evolutions aren't in the game but is the rest on par with X/Y? I'm asking mostly to really make use of Smogon advices.

5) Is there a way to have 2 capital letters or a space in the username? Is there a way to change customization later on?

6) Anything that I should know? Common mistakes or useful tips?

Squirtle is a good start, charmander is fine if you get dragon rage out of the forest maze. Bulb is OK. Pikachu you can catch in viridian forest so no point.

 

There isn't much of an efficient way to get the correct nature and such. You just have to grind.

 

He can't trade the costume for you. Only a few mounts and membership medallion is able to be traded.

 

Far as I am aware it's not possible to have multiple capital letters in a name. You're stuck with the name.

 

As far as mistakes just make sure you DON'T leave leftovers in the ss anne. hmm only one that currently comes to mind.

im pretty sure all clothes are tradable

The clothes are tradable but you need to have the 4th gym badge to trade.

i dunno about X/Y but going by generation, this game is on par with part gen 5 and part gen 6. You'll understand as the game goes on, and for the most part smogon does help, but smogon alone wont be enough for to become a competitive player here :)

 

I'd personally go with bulba right now as venu is a a very strong poke in the meta atm.

If you want something special start with Pikachu, then you can teach all Pikachus and Raichus Surf I believe. You can catch Pikachu in Viridian Forest too, that's true. But Bulbasaur can be caught in Safari, Squirtle in Vermillion City and Charmander in Cinnabar Mainson :Smile:

 

For the right nature catching part get sync pokes later. Nothing to do about it in the beginning.

The problem with Smogon builds is that not every item or move is working atm. So you'll need to be inventive.
