I dont think anyone is confused. I and the others replying understand you want to IMPROVE AN ALREADY OBTAINED POKEMON. What YOU are failing to see is that what you are suggesting is just the same as breeding, without the breeding aspect. Its just not necessary when they could just implement breeding if they wanted something like this to exist in game and they wouldn't have to change a cannon mechanic.

Breeding does not fix the issues that I have mentioned.

Breeding still means your going to have to fill of your box with 100s of Pokemon to get a competitive one.

It does not make your starter any better.

It does not improve an already obtained Pokemon like you said.

Another option is allow people to get a item at some point that allows them to see the ivs of a wild Pokemon when they encounter it. That way it allows good iv Pokemon to not be just a time saver, but avoids the problem of having to actually catch 100s to get a good one. Instead now you just have to see 100s of the same Pokemon to get a good one.

Honestly, this is a pretty solid suggestion. I don't think the traditionalists will rally behind it, but I like your thought process here.

Hypothetically, how would a player obtain this item?

Not sure, haven't got that far. Maybe its a reward for completing the Pokedex. Im not sure if thats too hard to easy for something like that. Or maybe for beating the Kanto Elite Four, since people tend to worry about competitive play after they have beat the elite four.

Theoretically the item in and off itself should be obtained in such a method that the person would have already have to have put a lot of time in to hunting prior to getting it. Spit some ideas.

“Believe nothing you hear, and only one half that you see.”

In that case maybe filling out the original 151 in the dex might work. It would require some hunting to achieve that feat.

Firstly breeding, EV items, and DK aren't in the game of course

We do have the macho brace (i think). whether its being given out ingame right now is another question though

I got my macho braco from a trade in [GoldenRod City] drowzee for a machop (I got a shiny Machop with a Macho Brace attached.

The idea with the item to see the ivs of the wild pokemons is great! I've played a lot of PWO. One big problem is to release the bad ivs pokemons. It waste a lot of time.

Other pokemmo games have had Rare Items called IV Resets, Which randomize the IVs of the pokemon it is used on. This is great for Rare pokemon that you can't just spam catch to get a good one. Will this be an item in this game too?

Very bad for this setup, the IV randomizer thing. Reasons are more than obvious. Sorry.

As long as there are those that remember what was, there will always be those that are unable to accept what can be.
