Ban Crawdaunt Discussion (Not a joke)

This is not a joke and it is a valid PvP discussion if you ask me so I will recreate the thread. People made joke threads in response to this one but I was serious. If I violate any forum rules set in place by posting this please forward them to me so I am aware of them before creating any more posts. There are other discussions very similar to this one on the forums that have not been locked and/or removed so I see no problem with it. From the previous discussion:

 

I believe the PvP aspect of the game would be that much better if Crawdaunt was banned. The combination of Adaptability and Crawdaunt's well-above-average attack is very hard to stop especially considering it has Knock Off. If you put a Life Orb or Choice Band on this mon, it is just too strong. It achieves things such as 2HKOing Skarmory, Blissey, Tangrowth, and other fat mons. This puts your team at a huge disadvantage vs other pokemon paired with Crawdaunt. Ban Crawdaunt please and thank you. :Ambivalent:

 

Edit: It also puts a strain on the Stall Archetype. It's impossible to win with Stall if the opponent has a Crawdaunt.

It can reliably do hefty damage to these mons with Knock Off.

i agree Crawdaunt are op in pvp hes like relicanth and tropius we have no swtch in and when we build your team u need to take a counter for it :/

So lets ban him like relicanth and tropius .

And be sure if u have in your team Tropius crawdaunt and relicanth u cant lost a single match and be top 1 without lose but staff gonna bn you cause they gonna think you multi acc its for what guys dont play these poke in same team cause they gonna be ban :/

There are countless ways to deal with it, priority moves and focus sash pokes being the ones i use. With 4 priority moves and at least one focus sash poke on my team, crawdant has never been an issue with its bad defences. Its not OP, its just that its your team thats weak against it. Not saying that you have a weak team, just saying that you have a weak team against crawdant. I could say the same thing against choice scarf togekiss, i cant counter it with my team. And trust me, togekiss is more bann worthy than crawdant :)

I counter crawdaunt ez with these Pokes, if you dont have aswitch and ur team gets wrecked by it you either need a counter either you should stop using cancer stall.

First off, I run stall, and there are numerous ways to counter Crawdaunt when playing stall. Crawdaunt hitting hard doesn't doom stall to failure. You can exploit the fact that it has garbage bulk, is very vulnerable to status, and will be choice locked.

 

Second, the fact that Crawdaunt does well against stall doesn't mean it puts a strain on team building. Some team archetypes will be more viable than others; it's up to the player to determine what the best combination of pokemon is that gives the highest chance for success. For example, just because Skarmory walls the standard sand core that people run doesn't mean that it should be banned.

 

Plus, Cofagrigus is a trash pokemon on stall. Enjoy your lack of reliable recovery.

 

Third, Crawdaunt is beaten pretty badly by many other playstyles. Its bad bulk and speed are easily exploited by faster offensive teams, and it's KOed by many common teams. Take that into consideration, as not all teams need to be stall teams.

 

Fourth, pretty much all of PRO hates stall. Don't expect any sympathy.

 

There are many counters to Crawdaunt that fit on stall. For example:

Clefable: Clefable can easily exploit the fact that Crawdaunt will be choiced, coming in on a choiced knock off gives it free opportunities to spread status, lay down rocks, or set up.

Skarmory: While the initial knock off looks scary, you can outheal it with roost after lefties are knocked off. Plus, attacking a Skarmory that has counter in its moveset is a death sentence for Crawdaunt

Ferrothorn: Knock off does a hefty chunk to Ferrothorn and knocks off a part of its recovery, which isn't nice, but Ferrothorn ohkos Crawdaunt back with power whip.

252 Atk Choice Band Adaptability Crawdaunt Knock Off (97.5 BP) vs. 252 HP / 88+ Def Ferrothorn: 202-238 (57.3 - 67.6%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Leftovers recovery

Status: Paralyze and especially burn cripple Crawdaunt. I've seen people switch Crawdaunt into Slowbro (a big no-no), since a scald burn basically turns Crawdaunt into dead weight on a team.

 

TL;DR: Crawdaunt is definitely not overpowered; there are ways to work around it on stall. Just because it hits hard doesn't mean it should be banned.

I use it as well with t wave on defensive toge and its cancer. Its fun when you use it but when its used against you....
