No, E4 never give exp even in the first time and gym leader only can beat once (win, if you lose you battle again with no exp). It attempt for avoiding players abuse.

Yw! yeah and u lose money for every blackout. :) The only fights where u dont lose money are pvp fights and Fights vs NPC Red, which u are supposed to lose. And i think Bosses (besides Jessie/James) and E4 losses dont make u lose money, but i dont give u a 100% for this one. :) I can confirm all thing of Coop said.
