are you holding a macho brace for ev training? macho brace halves user speed.

Macho Brace halves your speed in fights, so it usually happens in EV wald. I suggest you always train your pokemon to 50 or 60 before you enter the Wald, you'll ensure you don't get surprised :) (and screwed by Poliwrath's Hypnosis)
