Olker
Now, Elite Four, Johto. Before Will Before Koga Before Bruno Before Karen Before Lance After beating E4 Johto This region I didn't use exp share other than to level up certain mons I needed (geodude for stealth rock, Butterfree for sleep powder). Similar to the last region, experience becomes way harder to get after mid Johto (yes, taking into account the fact that I only used Gyarados). Honestly, as someone who has done the story mutiple times, I can say it is easy for me if I play using all the ai abuse, and tricks I know, however, I still think that a new player will find it hard playing the regular way (even I struggled in Kanto playing as a "new player" with a whole team of six and such). Pinklax
Kanto Spoiler Gym 1 Spoiler Before After Gym 2 Spoiler Before After Gym 3 Spoiler Before After Gym 4 Spoiler Before After Gym 5 Spoiler Before After Gym 6 Spoiler Before After Gym 7 Spoiler Before After Gym 8 Spoiler Before After Post league Spoiler My pokemon are over leveled since I could do the E4 without any item used, I was disconecting on the gary blastoise for keeping level up the rats with xp share but it was before they removed the requierement without annoucement Big mention to my dear mascot : Feedback Spoiler Here is my feedback on the experience for the story of kanto in my case I decided to make the story with a full team of pokemon trained. I had in my possession the xp boost of 25% recoverable in viridian and well fortunately because thanks to him I could go up and xp on the story my team of 6 pokemon which allowed me to pass a rather peaceful story, the early and mid game was literally a straight without any difficulty and in the "late game" after the 6th gym I feel like I was really under level especially facing the champion but the advantage of the types largely allowed to compensate this gap of level which I could have because of a team of 6 pokemons. The true shock was just after the last gym after obtaining the 8th badges the average level of my team was 50/52 that is 14 levels below the first trainer of the victory road this level gap made the end of this story much more complicated. this level gap made the end of this story much more complicated combined with the fact that the experience becomes harder and harder to grind and that much too early in my opinion we can feel from level 50 as a wall stopping our experience and if it is your first region and that you made the mistake to assemble a team of 6 pokemon, beat the e4 without set up strat or cheesy strat will prove to be very boring and long. I didn't skip any trainers and I never needed to xp in the story but the gap between the end of the story and the e4 was way too big and fortunately we can gain experience on the e4 and even with that it was really a torture it feel like hell. The only standart way I have to beat e4 with what i have bring in this story without item was to level up my hitmonlee on the first and 2nd e4 trainers and spam reversal at 1 hp but i needed so much level to outspeed all pokemon with story evs ( or needed to ev again my hitmonlee but a new player will never do this). you can also see on my last 2 kanto screens the difference in level of my pokemon after the 8th badge and after beating the E4 (its way to big with the experience tools / way we have at this moment) even if in itself the example is enormously exaggerated because it was already a long time where I disconected many times on the last pokemon of the league to continue to level up my pokemon (notably the rattata for the hoenn requierement) and to anticipate the next leagues and not to have to xp again between each E4 of each regions. to conclude the kanto arc with a 25% xp boost offered by the game it is possible to do the whole story with a team of 6 pokemon with a minimum of balance not a mono water or mono weakness to a gym leader which is a very good point. but the gap between the last arena and the league is much too high for new players playing in a standart way (of course the difficulty can be avoided by using only one pokemon or 2 all the story with debuffer and setuper but there is noway a new player without knowledge will do that by himself). this gap being in my opinion too big especially with the little experience available after the story it's impossible to xp in the victory road the experience gained is just ridiculous, even the e4 the experience is completely ridiculous but it's the best we have access to which makes the end of the story really really boring without real spot / way of xp. Johto Spoiler Gym 1 Spoiler Before After Gym 2 Spoiler Before After Gym 3 Spoiler Before After Gym 4 Spoiler Before After Gym 5 Spoiler Before After Gym 6 Spoiler Before After Gym 7 Spoiler Before After Gym 8 Spoiler Before After Post league Spoiler Feedback Spoiler concerning the story of johto I decided this time to reduce my team from 6 to 3 pokemons what allowed me to have a base of pokemon well xp much more solid to face this story. just like kanto I had no problem in the story itself however towards the end of this story notably at the last badge I had this huge feeling that if I had had 1 more pokemon the adventure would have been much harder I really had this feeling that 3 pokemon with xp boost was the number not to exceed to pass johto without too much problem with 3 pokemon I was always about the same level or slightly below the level of gym leader. I did the story with friends who didn't have the xp boost and for them the number of pokemon not to exceed seems to be 2 on top of that it just makes the experience of the story much less pleasant because onwards the level 50 we really have the impression that the xp doesn't advance anymore or really very slowly. so to conclude the johto arc fortunately I didn't take more than 3 pokemons to do the story otherwise I could have spent a bad moment but with 3 pokemons and the xp boost the story was rather pleasant but only because I was able to do the E4 with the kanto pokemon otherwise I would probably have the same problem as in kanto especially since the pokemon of the E4 seem to be much more powerful (or higher level) than those of the E4 of kanto. small incoherence underlined in this story the last arena of this region is normally a rather complicated stage according to the pokemon which people could take during the story but here on pro its not hard at all because people can just before making the arena to reach the zone behind where we can find strong fairy pokemon like clefable and azumarill just behind a dragon arena what makes no sens and make the difficulty of this arena completely non-existent. Hoenn Spoiler Gym 1 Spoiler Before After Gym 2 Spoiler Before After Gym 3 Spoiler Before After Gym 4 Spoiler Before After Gym 5 Spoiler Before After Gym 6 Spoiler Before After Gym 7 Spoiler Before After Gym 8 Spoiler Before After Post league Spoiler Feedback Spoiler concerning the story of hoenn I kept the number of 3 pokemons what allowed me to have an experience enough balanced and to be at the same average level as the gym leaders 3 seems to be the number of pokemon with xp boost to keep not to be under level if more than 3 pokemons and over level if less than 3 pokemons. but I found hoenn extremely easy much easier than all the other regions especially thanks to swampert who learns ice beam surf earthquake very early in the game which literally allows to clear all the region without any difficulty even if you are under level. at any time of the story I could not feel any difficulty even the gym 6 which usually can slow down the progression the last 2 and strong pokemons of the gym leader tropius and altaria use attacks in 2 turns (solarbeam and sky atk) on swampert which learns protec naturally what makes the gym leader completely useless against swampert. To conclude the hoenn arc 3 pokemon with xp boost allows to not be under level and also not over level compared to the gym leader. but it's I think swampert that really allowed even being at the same level as my opponent to clear the region without any difficulty but just like johto the adventure was very pleasant but only because I was able to reuse once again my pokemon from the old regions to clear the E4 which allowed me to avoid the gap of level between gym 8 and the E4 but at least in hoenn there is a lot of trainers to do to gain xp (all water way between petalburg and slateport after you beat the gym 5) and all trainer in water way and under water arround sotopolis mosdeep and pacifictown) but still not enought compare to the new system xp who really slow down you in your progression after the level 50 im really afraid about the fact to level pvp pokemon after the story to the level 100. Sinnoh Spoiler Gym 1 Spoiler Before After Some of my screen got bugged and disapear unfortunally but after this Gym my turtwig just evolve in grotle so lvl 18 elekid was just here to avoid any black out Gym 2 Spoiler Before After Gym 3 Spoiler Before After same than before this screen got bugged and disapear in the lost abyss of giratina but i solo xp staravia on this gym and he just evolved in staraptor after the gym champion so staravia ->level 34 Gym 4 Spoiler Before After Gym 5 Spoiler Before After Gym 6 Spoiler Before After Gym 7 Spoiler Before After Gym 8 Spoiler Before After Post league Spoiler Feedback Spoiler Torterra is definitely the worse starter. Concerning the story of sinnoh it is globally the same feeling as for the last regions 3 pokemons with xp boost allowed me to always stay in the same level as the gym leader on the contrary of hoenn the starter torterra made my story more complicated than my friends having taken infernape and empoleon. about the experience in the story it was also a straight forward with my 3 pokemons in spite of the fact that they were not pokemon very story friendly (low pp move, bad coverage, recoil move, slow pokemon). To conclude the sinnoh arc nothing really new to add exceeding 3 pokemons here would have really penalized me because my 3 pokemons were not very strong to beat a lot of npc in a row so being under level would have really made the experience very boring but with 3 pokemon despite my low coverage the story didn't really offer any difficulty. For the E4 as well as the other regions the fact that I got my old pokemon allowed me to avoid the level gap between the last gym and the E4. The story could have been much simpler Since I having started sinnoh with 35 rare candies in my bag I could have rushed the story really really fast with only one pokemon almost level 100 very quickly in the adventure but that would have completely ruined my opinion on the xp of the pokemon during the story of sinnoh. Global Experience story Feedback Spoiler To conclude in a global way. For the story if you want to have a simple experience and limit the difficulty just do the story with only one pokemon which will allow you to find yourself too much over level which will anilate all the difficulty of the story for a balanced experience with an exp boost don't exceed 3 pokemons (2 without xp boost) which allows you to be permanently close to the level of the gym leader and trainers and therefore makes the story quite standard way neither too easy and too complicated. For a much more complex experience a team of 6 will make sure that you will be very quickly from the mid game under level and considering the experience gained in wild battle and the area put at the disposal of the players it will be very complicated, even impossible to come back from this gap of level what will make sure that you will be probably quickly and rather often blocked at certain point of the story (much too under level to pass the continuation). As for the experience in general, I find the beginning very pleasant, it allows you to evolve your pokemon without falling behind in experience, which makes the adventure more interesting. However you really feel like you're facing a wall once youre reaching the average of level 50 where the experience you've gained in either wild battle, trainers, gym leaders its litterally ridiculous which completely prevent to have a healthy adventure with too many pokemon in his team except for kanto where the last arena being a simple mewtwo alone it's quite easy even in sub level to fall it down since it's alone where inother region the last gym is most likely almost a full team of a bit over leveled pokemon (what is very more difficult to beat than a single pokemon). Another things in all story I could encounter is there is way to much npc that didnt give you any xp most of them are leader or mini boss from rocket team/ galaxy team/ magma team / aqua team and I dont get it they are supposed to be harder and like check point in your story line but they didnt give you any experience its really frustrating because some time you use some item to be sure the pokemon you want got the all experience of this stronger pokemon but since there is no xp on this battle its just frustrating to be honest. BUT I am very worried about the endgame content because with this new level up experience system level up a pvp pokemon at level 100 will just be hell on earth if no change or way of xp pokemon is made available to players for the post game. Cerulean cave will probably be the best way to get xp and from what i could see in the story the experience to win will be ridiculous, after the story we can't do the E4 anymore and even with that it will always be ridiculous and even if the trainers are improving I think they have a 7 day cooldown and even with a lower cooldown the experience to win will stay a ridiculous amount and for all its points I am really worried about the level up of pokemon pvp / pve for the post game I know its a MMO and it need to be grinding but at this point it is just not conceivable. Exp Share Feedback Spoiler About the xp share I think it will be a very good addition, it allows to make quickly gain level to our little pokemon that we need to level up for evo or for side quest like having a pokemon with sleep powder at golden rod without having to spam tackle caterpie that would be really boring and the xp share fix that. It allows very easily to take a pokemon in a zone that we want to use later in the story and make it quickly catch up to the level of the highest pokemon in the team and continue the story without having to xp it in the wilds for hours the perfect example is the excadrill that I level up in johto and that very quickly caught up to the level of the highest pokemon in my team. The xp share allow also to avoid any level gap in your own team, for exemple if your pokemon struggle in this party of the story your other pokemon will continue to xp for him and they will still have the same level each other after this area and this is a very good point for me. the xp share allows also to give ev to very weak pokemon that is a fantastic things because some times ev a slow poke or very weak pokemon is very a pain that the xp share can fix all these points makes me think this would be a very good addition for the game. Veldrin
i do e4 and be kanto champ. before e4: i do some change in team after some try, this the after : i finish e4 and i do finding 2 bug, 1 really ugly, the other help me to win however. my gyarados become venusaur in a strange magic way and do earthquake to pidgeot, naturally pidgeot kill gyara after this, even if he wrote venu the poke who die was gyara: after this i try to revive gyara for try not go trash the run, when i try 1 dd he was just full buffed: thanks to this second bug i finish e4 whitout retry again, naturally if there wasn't the firts bug i'll finish it too. consideration on e4: i see the poke are balanced to your level but the low exp problem compromise the option of contruct a team of exped poke ,i think use boss strat for do e4 isn't funny couse e4 are not hard boss, you can fight with a team but build it in this exp situation isn't easy. hope it help. Olker
After Hoenn 1st gym, forgot to take screenshot of before, but before gym, Marshstomp was a lvl 14 Mudkip. I evolved it at lvl 16 after the second gym trainer, and went from 16 to 17 with Roxanne.
