All Jhoto:

  Reveal hidden contents

Jhoto seems more easy then kanto, even because knowing the exp problem i don't use soo much exp. share(stop from lvl 30-40 more or less) so Feraligator can level up easy and face up to the story, i never need to exp in wild until last gym and it was really good.

probably jhoto is easiest even because the trainer npc are more balanced and don't exceed the team level

conclusion:

i take a little time from first try of e4 and the end for better understand the new sistem and also for fail some boss 😞 .

Even using fast poke the exp after level 50 take really long time, thinking to do poke lvl 100 just by exp it is impossible, probably this is soo like the official game but in the game you usually never need poke lvl 100 and in the last game most of the last lvl (even all)are made by candy or similar, in PRO the game is balanced for lvl 100 poke, even the pvp, and changing in it will damage a lot the new player if the all game don't change with it.

i'll not try hoenn becouse i know that will be soo hard, in the story lot of trainer npc are high level, and a lot of this don't even give you exp. The deoxis part is not soo easy yet in the standard, doing it with this low exp system will be soo frustrating.

thanks for this test, hope it help bye ^_^

Overall observation:
I am a player who's got about 20 days total under my belt since starting to play PRO and the last Pokemon game I played was Pokemon Yellow over a decade ago. The EXP per win on test feels slow, and it would take me another 3 or so days of 6-8 hours a day to beat Kanto region. I am very slow as I'm still very new to this so that has a major impact on how fast I can get through things. Sorry I was unable to beat the region for test data and forgot to get the post cerulean gym screen shot.

Opinion about the test

  • Finishing this test wasn't easy. As a newbie or played for 500 hrs for fun, I found that it's a bit rough on doing this speedrun. I guess when the server merges I can try this again by creating a new profile (When unlimited profiles are allowed).
  • At the start it is a bit rough, I had quite a few all faints before get the first 2 gyms completed.
  • The new EXP scheme is the most beneficial in my opinion. Like it does help when trying to run speedrun like this. At least I can evolute my pokes early on. But because this is like a speedrun I ended up better evolve my Nidoran F (originally I was trying to do an experiment to see if not letting it to evolve will make it slower). If I don't evolve my pokemon then I will lose the battle easier.
  • Choosing Charmander wasn't a good choice for Kanto. At least I had a hard start. Later it was okay but time is up.
  • For gym 2, I have to catch a Gloom after defeated by Misty.
  • I won Lance in Vermillion City. Hurray!!!!! (This is my first time winning that)
  • For gym 5, I have to use Snorlax to tank (Is that the right word?). Which is fun.
  • The EXP share is a good tool in my opinion. I guess it helps when I am trying to boost a Pokemon that is quite low level like Snorlax (30 lv when caught, Charizard was 49 lv at that time). But not too sure about the EXP sharing mechanism, sometimes the Pokemon drains a huge amount, sometimes it takes less then the first (and only) Pokemon in battle.
  • Some bugs in the server
    • When I tries to call another Pokemon it often gives me the wrong one. The reason why I know this is often it brings me Charmeleon which is already fainted.
    • EXP animation goes backwards, but I guess you guys got the logs?
    • I can't talk to some NPCs (Like my head turns away or it doesn't pop up the diaglogue) and I have the log out or exit and come back to the room.

I don't know whether I will get the reward because I didn't finished Kanto. But the best part for me is to see the new feature. Which is great in general. Looking forward to see it comes into the main game.

Yo,

After elite 4

18225208_finalteam.PNG.10db7a2e228133f3a88e885b275a0a6c.PNG

Summary:

I really enjoyed the first half of the playthrough, being able to use evolved pokemon without being underleveled. Normally you'd wait to evolve your pokemon until right before the elite four, but now i was confidently able to evolve nidoran to nidoking before the second gym. The addition of exp share is also very nice, as it allows you to train weaker pokemon like magikarp more easily. I think exp share would also eliminate a lot of cheesy exp-boosting tactics like using a team of perish song mismagius to train pokemon.

The game felt like a normal playthrough up until around the 4th gym. My pokemon was already starting to be underleveled. I had to heal after almost every trainer battle, and i realized that i wasnt gonna be able to beat the game with the team i had. I trained a venomoth and gyarados, since they had setup moves quiver dance and dragon dance. Thats how i beat most trainers and gyms up until gym 8.

Gym 8 had a mewtwo which is steel / psychich type, and is probably around level 100. Even after paralyzing and using flash 4 times, and setting up 3 dragon dances with gyarados, i only did 11% each turn with aqua tail, and all mewtwo needed was to hit psycic once to kill me. I figured out a strategy with magnemite, geodude and psyduck to beat it. Magnemite with sturdy used flash turn one. Then turn 2 mewtwo had to miss in order for psyduck to land soak. I retried this until mewtwo missed and then got off a soak. Then after mewtwo kills psyduck on turn three i switch to geodude with sturdy. Geodude uses toxic and mewtwo uses psycic which brings it to 1 hp. Then i heal geodude back to 100% with super potion, and repeat until mewtwo dies of poison.

For the elite 4 i was severly underleveled. My highest level pokemon was gyarados at level 54, and normally you want a full team of level 80's to beat the elite 4. I leveled gyarados in victory road, maxed out its attack ev's and leveled it to level 70. I needed around 15000 xp per level, and the pokemon in victory road gave around 1000 xp per fight, so i estimate i had to kill around 200 pokemon, + another 100 for ev-training. Then i had 10 rare candies that i collected and got it to level 80. all in all i spent around 3 hours grinding to level up gyarados, which was extremely boring. To beat the elite four, i used magnemite with sturdy to set up either reflect or light screen. Then i used around 2-4 dragon dances and swept through every elite 4 member.

To conclude, i really like the idea of a xp-rework, but i think you need to make it easier to level up, especially later in the game.

The xp-share is a great addition, and i hope it makes it to the live servers.
