Byucknah Posted August 25, 2016 Share Posted August 25, 2016 Pokemon Revolution Online Feedback/Suggestions Please note that these are all my personal opinion after experiencing the game for roughly 30 hours and as an avid MMO fan with years of experience with games such as World of Warcraft, Everquest Online Adventures, Runescape, and more. None of these suggestions or opinions are intended to be demanding, rude, or incite any arguments. This is posted full knowing the game is still in a beta state and that it is possible that what is about to be suggested may or may not already be planned for the game. As I continue to journey in the game, as well as involve myself in the community more may me added to this list or even some parts of the list may be removed as I update. Lets keep all discussion respectful and focus on our love for a great game and desire for it to continue to grow and evolve :D General Options/User Interface -- Updated 8/26/2016 -GUI Scale, Volume, SFX, Dialogue sliders feature numbers to indicate scaling/percentage/Speed -GUI Scale currently does not save upon restarting the client, something that needs to change. -Change Local Chat to ONLY show local chat instead of all channels. There is already an “All” tab and yet the Local tab does not make it much easier to see what people are saying nearby because it constantly gets flooded from the other chats. -Consider more chat options in the future, such as customizing tabs and what channels should appear in each tab. -Consider doubling the text limit for chat messages. The current limit is just a little too small, especially in the case of trying to explain to/help people in channels such as help. Some times a few extra words can be very helpful instead of having to split your sentence. -Consider, for the future, allowing windows to be resized separately from the prime GUI scaling option. The size of the standard UI, personally, is fine except for the battle window which I would love to be able to scale to be bigger. -We have a buff window and yet it is scarcely used when in fact there is a TON of potential use here, such as showing how many steps your Repell has left, showing how much remaining time you have in the safari zone, ect. Being limited to showing you that you have a membership or if there is a world event going on is a waste of potential. -The buff frame on the top left could be used for status effects in a more interesting way. An example being with Poison. If a pokemon in your team is poisoned bring up a buff with a count down time, maybe 15-30 seconds, and each time it reaches 0 any pokemon you have that are poisoned take damage. This brings back the dangers of poison in PRO as well as another use for the buff frame for tracking information. -Consider adding more hot key options such as World Map, Pokedex, Social, ect. -Change the Escape key function so that if you have any tabs(Bag, Pokedex, Trainer, Pokemon Info, ect) open it closes them, requiring a second press of escape to bring up the main menu. -Add a berry pouch to the bag interface to separate Berries and other items. In its current iteration the Medicine pouch is a mess compared to the other bag tabs and contains far more items on average. With how many medicine based items and how many berry types there are it would make sense to separate berry and non-berry medicine items or at least sort them better. -- 8/26/2016 World Map -Mouseovered sections of the map should be highlighted for better visibility -Allow mouse over/click information such as Digsites, Berries, Quests, Trainers, Bosses, Level Range, ect. for each area. If there are any of the available you have yet to complete yet(for the reset period) the text appears as white. If you have finished everything for the area the text is grayed out until any of those features reset for you(if they reset). Player Journal Feature/Expanded Trainer Tab -Add a player Journal, either as sub tabs of the Trainer frame or as its own frame. -Trainer Journal includes informations such as Active Quests/Objective tracking, Completed quests, NPC Trades, Reset Timers for Berries, Trainers, Bosses, ect. Poke’Marts/Shops -Allow a keyboard modifier(Shift, Ctrl, ect) in addition to clicking the arrows for changing the amount of an object you wish to purchase increase the amount by higher values(Increasing the amount by 10 or 25 instead of 1) Quests -The Saffron Subway quest should be re-evaluated. You can accept it the moment you can go to the route but there are a few issues. -The NPC for retrieving the parcel is in random locations but one of the locations can not be reached until much further into Kanto(Victory Road). Consider moving the random locations to only be places the player has been prior to starting the quest. -Even if you complete the quest you will be told “If you are not famous enough you cant use our system”. Not only is this very vague wording but it also removes all the value from completing this quest chain you just spent $50,000 on, went searching for the parcel, and farming for the feather only to have no payout at the end aside from the HM for Fly. And given Fly’s severely reduced value it feels very poor the not gain access to the subway for at least the places you have been to up to that point. -Consider, once the quest chain is complete, making it more like a traditional flight point system from MMO’s where the player has to travel to each Poke’center/station to tell the guards the system is working again(IE, adding that location to where you can travel to). IE unlocking each fast travel point after finish the quest instead of waiting for some arbitrary “fame”. Quest NPCs/Trainer Rematches -Using the current “Guild Icon” system, place Icons over NPC’s with quests, trainer’s that can be rematched, event NPC’s, and possible repeatable quest givers. -I have provided some examples below of trainers that you can re-match. When the icon is grayed out it means you can re-match them but not at this time. When the icon is colored in it means they are ready to fight you again. I have also included two different styles of icons. One with a white outline and one without, I have found the white outline makes it more visible but its up to opinion. -Down below is the quest icon featuring the generation 1 pokedex. The icons can be re-colored depending on if a quest is a one time quest, repeatable quest, event quest, ect. The icons come in 4 forms. Greyed out exclamation meaning "I WILL have a quest for you at some point, you do not meet the requirements yet so check back at some point.", Colored in meaning "I have a quest for you right now!", Grayed out Question mark meaning "You are on my quest but have yet to complete the objective, hurry I am old and might die soon...", and colored in meaning "Hey, you did what I needed, come speak to me for your epic reward that I promise will be more useful than the Fly HM!" HMs/Out of combat moves -Allow dragging flash from a pokemon's skill list onto the quick bar for fast toggling on and off. Unused items/Out of Combat abilities -There are several items/abilities currently in game that have absolutely no use, and for good MMO based reasons. As it stands they are acquirable in game but do literally nothing, I have come up with some quick suggestions to bring value back to these items/moves. -Payday -- A move that does variable damage based on the amount of pokedollars you have. (Hidden value set by developers) -Amulet Coin -- Reduces the required pokedollars needed to increase Payday’s damage.(Hidden value set by developers) -Lucky Egg -- Increases Chancey’s critical strike chance in combat. (Equivalent to the Stick item for Farfetche’d currently in game) Additional Content Ideas -Consider possible weekly events to provide more content not only for end game but for all players. Event ideas such as… -Shiny Week(end) - %increase of shiny spawns, trainers(NPCs) actively seeking specific shiny pokemon have appeared and offer cool cosmetic rewards for the pokemon they seek! -Fishing Week(end) - When fishing you might find the unexpected. Anglers around the globe have come together in each region to re-invigorate the fishing competitions of old! -Type Week(end) - X Type appears slightly more frequently in all locations where found and special type focused trainers have appeared all over the world for you to battle, all at differing levels. -Friendship Week(end) - Friendship with Pokemon increases %quicker, friendship raters have appeared and offer rewards for the more maximum friendship you have out of all owned pokemon! Cosmetics and more available. -Digsite Week(end) - Digsites can contain items that they normally wouldn’t this weekend! Archaeologists around the world might be interested in your findings. -Berry Week(end) - Berry tree’s contain more berries and special Berry Traders have returned with Cosmetics, Items, and pokemon in return for large quantities of specific berries! -These are all just spitballed ideas, something that changes up the game slightly every week without necessarily putting pressure on one specific point of interest(Like the 1st anniversary event) which gives the game a constant and changing environment of activity to prevent stagnation in one specific area while waiting for new regions. Would support but would take a VERY long time to implement what your suggest. The timer for most of those objects are npc based and would be hard to code to track like that when not interacting with said object. 3. Again would take a very long to implement. Remember there is only one coder for the game. 4. Oh god please yes. I have bought 100 moo moo milks before and it took so many clicks. Support. 5. Subway system quest is really ment for after you complete the e4 anyway 6. Would be a cool addition and quality of life for those non champs who havent gotten access to the teleport/route skip system. 7. Torch item is being considered so probably wont happen. 8. Not gonna happen sorry. Would be really really cool if it did. 9. Except for shiny would be great additions to the events we have. Though these might affect the economy of the game too much. Overall a well made post. I will follow this post to see what everyone else has to say about. And the trigger would be on the end of a talk with boss/berry/headbutt tree. Well I already know that Headbutt tracking is impossible/never going to be a thing according to the topic of non-negotiable suggestions. I also know "exact" timers for a lot of things are non-negotiable, though I figure a simple true/false value would not be too extreme. To be blunt, I have no idea what the games code looks like and only know that its done in C++. The closest to C++ knowledge I have is GML which is basically a slightly watered down C++. In addition to that every programmer has his/her own way of doing things. I have no idea just how hard coded everything is and how hard or tedious it would be to go back and do this though it would be a very nice long term feature. At the least, if tracking of any kind is impossible then at least putting points of interest on the mouse over such as "Berries, Digsites, Re-matches, Boss, level range, ect" would be convenient enough. 250361250195 Lucky Egg -- Increases Chancey’s critical strike chance in combat. It IS possible to redo, but that requires rescripting every single tree (thars 600+ trees) Do not contact staff members for private support.
