  1. staff could change the system to something like the hearthstone ladder, where u grind a certain win-loss difference before u enter the actual rated ranked ladder and than give coins to everyone in the rated ranked ladder.

  2. Its funny that almost everyone is quoting the smogon uber moveset of gothitelle, which is bs because almost all uber pokemons arent in PRO right now.

gothitelle in PRO is used best with taunt if u wanna counter a stall team, because u outspeed slowbro, blissey, tangrowth, amoongus anyway but u deny them their status moves. without taunt u can even struggle against a bold+calm mind slowbro.

Sleep powder users like roserade/venusaur are countered by chesto berry, so u have a guaranteed taunt in the frist round, while sleep powder has only a 75% chance to hit. Btw Chesto berry is the best item in PRO because if u wanna set up on a special attacker u probably dont get to +2 before u need to rest the first time (u are too slow). But once u reached +3+ u dont care about the sleep turns anyway and u dont need a lum berry because rest cures scald burns, poison from toxic spikes or para.

Faster confuse ray+thunder wave users (starmie, lanturn) have only a 50% chance to deny taunt or the +1. If taunt is succesful gothitelle has a 50% to rest heal para and set up for 2 turns or if confused to set up for 3 turns. A lum berry has a little advantage over chesto in this scenario because u get a guaranteed taunt in the frist round followed by +2/+3 the next rounds. and at +3 starmie's hydro pump is only dealing max 25% (Psyshock will always deal 18% max against bold gothitelle). Even if u are confused+para u still have a 25% chance to use an attack, while starmie already needs 5 hits for a KO. Because starmie is stronger u already know whats happening if lanturn isnt running volt switch.

If u dont run taunt u want signal beam as coverage move against dark type switch ins and other psychic types. Most of them get 0HKO'ed at +6 by signal beam while most dont have a 0HKO with their dark type stabs with black glasses or even life orb. Additionally a used chesto berry helps against knock off.

And for all the players who think u cant use gothitelle without calm mind to take care of slowbro, blissey, tangrowth, amoongus. A bold gothitelle with chesto berry and taunt, psyshock, signal beam and rest beats them 1on1.

If u dont believe it feel free to recalc with a dmg calculator.

    peace out

  3. 253339 if staff are listening to you to ban shadow tag along with boosting setup, why they won`t accept banning stallers or 6 pokemons team all tank ? you want to start a revolution or something without knowing the consequence ;), maybe is just me but if they really ban because 1 or 2 guys said so, is a good consideration to just quit the game if they don`t ban what me and other 3-5 people are wanting xD, as a good exemple

because u can switch in taunt users like gengar (a support blissey cant do anything against gengar with taunt, slowbro has to fear shadow ball, tangrowth sludge bomb, curselax will fear focus blast once implemented, skarmory cant whirlwind it out and gets 2HKO'ed, ...). Against set up sweeper u can switch in a pokemon with haze (or unaware once it works) or a resisting pokemon or a pokemon with a super effektiv prio move (for example ice shard against DD boosted dragons), while u cant do these things against gothitelle before it has killed a pokemon.

253326 To the previous comment: I'm sure you got atleast 2 pokemons Gothitelle can setup in. + Your Prankster Sableye wouldnt stand on his feet too long against a +6 gothitelle unless you're surprisingly lucky with the confusion.

In fact, Gothitelle cannot do anything on Sableye since it only runs Psychic/Psyshock as an offensive move (Calm mind, Rest, Thunder wave, Psychic/Psyshock) so yes, any dark type will counter it. You can drop T-Wave for a coverage move but it will suffer at setting up and at resting without the help of paralysis on Blissey.

why would u use thunder wave? the smogon move set is designed for uber's not for PRO. Pokemons in uber are stronger than the pokemons allowed in PRO-PvP that's why u wanna cripple them to setup more easily and deny them some attacks. With more than 300 HP blissey needs 4 hits with seismic toss to kill gothitelle. so u set up to +3, use rest+chesto berry and u have a 2HKO on blissey with psyshock while remaining more than 100 HP.

In Pro u can run signal beam to take care of dark type switch ins like Weavile (a chesto berry set with signal beam 0HKO's Weavile at +3 while knock off only deals 52,9%-62,7% when chesto berry is used), Sableye (chance to 2HKO at +6 even with Recover, while taking less than 41% even as a sassy one from knock off), honchkrow (0HKO at +6 while sucker punch deals 79.3 - 93.6% against a bold one), Hydreigon, houndoom, Tyrannitar. the only dark type that has a gueranteed 0HKO is Bisharp with crunch or sucker punch.

also some1 showed that slowbro killed gothitelle. happening if u use calm mind on slowbro and in this case u will always win against gothitelle if only carrying psyshock (because u resist it but gothitelle wont resist scald and u have better recovery in slack off). Will be more close against signal beam or taunt. Just because your opponent is bad doesnt mean gothitelle is.

Yes heracross 0HKO's it with megahorn if megahorn hits. Scizor 2HKO's it with bug bite but why stay in against these pokemons?

Right now the only good thing is that Gothitelle isnt used to its full potential in PRO because people only see it as a stall trapper (thats the reason i only lost one game against gothitelle which was able to setup on my tentacruel and swept my team after) when it only needs one special attacker without a super effective move. Once people start to build their team around gothitelle (like wish support) its getting more frustrating and even offensive teams will start to struggle, but so far i havent seen anyone doing this.

    edit:

added that trying to setup as gothitelle with the standard set on slowbro is always a bad idea. calm mind slowbro will always win if gothitelle isnt running taunt.

    edit2:

i guess most people will think different once encore is implemented or some of the top players start to use gothitelle

  4. the problem is more on the side that your sets lack explanations why they are better than others besides "they are different". As shown with tyranitar sassy/relaxed ones do the same job as your naive one but can handel other switch ins too while your set cant. Or why your physical tank infernape is better than the one you can find on smogon. Or what pokemons fear an agilitiy set on lucario more than the priority move sets (e.g. extreme speed has a chance for a 0HKO on Staraptor at +2, Bullet punch 2HKO's gengar at +2 while shadow ball isnt a 0HKO)

A uncommon set is used if u wanna suprise the enemy by killing/crippling common switch ins. for example u could use rock tomb/stone edge/ancient power on water absorb quagsire, because a lot of players will switch in a dragon dance user like Gyarados or dragonite expecting to setup freely as long as unaware isnt working. Ice punch is better against dragons in general so if u can take care of gyarados with another pokemon u can go this route. I need to admit i havent seen anyone else using quagsire in ranked this or last season besides me.

  5. i already suggested to bann shadow tag in combination with boosting/setup moves. shadow Tag itself isnt bad. else we need to talk about trapping in general including magnet pull or arena trap. The difference with gothitelle is the ability to trap and to setup for free resulting in a kill with 95% hp left. And you dont need an enemy with a stall team. its enough if there is one special attacker without an super effektiv move.

A bold gothitelle has over 334 HP, 317 Def, 257 SpDef and 226 SpAtk at +0. In comparison a bold unaware Clefable with calm mind has 384 HP, 269 Def, 217 SpDef and 226 SpAtk at +0. it not bad stat wise.

For example even a sharp beak staraptor has only a 31,3% chance for a 0HKO with brave bird. A technichian+life orb Breloom with bullet seed needs 4 hits to have a chance for a 0HKO. without life orb it needs 5 hits for a 75% chance for a 0HKO. So its not like u can just switch in a physical attacker, after gothitelle setup to +6 and killed the first one, to revenge kill it. U need something like pursuit bisharp to have a guaranteed 0H revenge kill. Other dark types with pursuit dont have the chance to even revenge kill it with 0H if its at 95% HP. But right now we dont even have the option because pursuit isnt working as intended. Gothitelle can carry signal beam to take care of those dark types to. Than switch out, get healed with wish support and set up again on the next special attacker.

But to be honest most players using gothitelle arent using it to the full potential.

Gothitelle with full investment into special defense (nature+ev's= 350 SpDef; bold+ev's=319 SpDef) could already take care of almost all special attackers without the need to use calm mind because it has access to taunt, rest+chesto berry to cure status and heal up again and some coverage moves. It wouldnt kill her but limit the ability to trap pokemons to a level like magnezone's.

  6. Imo your sets have some flaws or arent uncommon/underrated.

    1. naive tyrannitar

    - a sassy or relaxed Tyranitar with fire blast+ice beam does the same job against ferrothorn or skarmory (both are 2HKO).

    - u need 248 Speed ev's to outspeed special defense gliscor but both have a 2HKO in sand. A defensive Tyranitar still has a 2HKO while a Gliscor needs 3 hits in sand

    - 208 speed ev's are enough to outspeed a fully offensive scizor. Against hp+atk invested Scizors u need 0 investment into speed with a speed boosting nature.

    - mixed wall hippowdon has a guaranteed 2HKO while your tyranitar needs 3 hits

    - a defensive set has a 87,5% chance to 1HKO starmie with crunch in sand while Starmie needs 2 hits with hydro pump or 3 hits with scald. Situation is similar against slowbro, but u will outspeed a defensive Slowbro anyways

    - a relaxed tyranitar with 40 def ev's can take a +1 waterfall from gyarados (as long as it isnt a crit) while dealing significant dmg with stone edge

--> Imo a defensive tyranitar is overall better than your set. additionally the named steel types are covered better by magnezone

    2. Gyarados with taunt

    - taunt set is somewhat common if there are a lot of status attacks used in the current meta like Togekiss, blissey, slowbro and u lack another pokemon for them

    - bounce in combination with taunt has a drawback because u cant use bounce two times in a row or the enemy has the chance to use status moves again.

    3. defenive infernape

    - is listed on smogon with almost the same moves but different nature+investment, but investment is always depending on the meta

    - with an impish nature an without any speed investment u arent able to w-o-w 80 base speed attacker with 252 ev's in speed so u will take at least 1 hit before u cut their dmg. if they carry lum berry u take at least 2 hits (not counting the 85% chance for w-o-w)

    4. lucario

    - without bullet punch u miss a stab attack and its easily walled and forced out by clefable, azumarill or togekiss

    - agility wont make u attack harder nor are u outspeeding other priority users. Additionally u need more turns to set up. A standard lucario set is more of a revenge killer or is ment to sweep a weakend team at +2 not to sweep a tanky team at full hp.
