    Sunny team.

feel free to contact me. Nevertheless i didnt want to scare anyone from building a sun team. It works if u build it properly against the current meta but it needs way more brainstorming and knowledge than a rain team (e.g. Politoed, ms Dragonite, Ludicolo, Omastar/Kabutops, lightning rod and a 6th pokemon). It's more of a niche than a mainstream team but niches are important to get the meta shifting. Teampreview would actually help a lot because u can hide the information that u use a sun team, while rain/sand is obvious and u see the potential switch ins.

    Sunny team.

I used sun a little bit before i stopped PvP. sun has too many disadvantage compared to rain/sand: - drought setter are weak to stealth rock so you kinda need a spinner/defogger (PRO's rain/sand setter arent and gen 7 Pelipper has access to defog and roost itself) - besides armaldo and beartic all swift swim user are water types so they get the additional 50% boost on their stab attack in rain while there is no chlorophyll pokemon with a fire typing - chlorophyll sweeper have a bad offensive presence because of the grass typing (strong against 3, weak against 7 typings) and none of them has a second offensive typing (fight, ground, fire, rock, ice). In comparison almost all special attacking swift swim user can carry ice beam as coverage against grass and dragon leaving only water uncovered but rain+stab boost compansates for that - chlorophyll sweeper are weak to gale wings talonflame - besides victreebel all chlorphyll sweeper rely on H.P. fire as coverage against opposing grass, bug or steel pokemon but it's only a 90 BP - chlorophyll is hard to get if it's the h.a. (venusaur, leafeon) - steel is ressisting grass, bug, flying, psychic, fairy and normal leaving only shiftry with an unresisted stab attack - solar beam is a straight up bad move (120 BP in sun, 60 in neutral weather and 30 in sand/rain/hail) additionally locking you in if sun fades/another weather is set up. In comparison even Scald is a 120 BP move in rain, 40 in sun and 80 in the rest but has a nice 30% burn chance and more PP (surf and hydro pump are even stronger) - Ninetales is the worst weather inducer available because: a) it's too fast b) it has little bulk nor good recovery c) because of b) and it's fire typing it cant switch into Politoed, Tyranitar or Hippowdon but they can switch into ninetales because solar beam is the only coverage move (energy ball is not available and weaker in sun) Even with the changes of gen 7 (gale wings nerf and Torkoal getting drought) i dont see sun nearly as powerfull as sand/rain because of the typing disadvantage, lower base stats and weaker moves. Charizard-Y has drought but the disadvantage of not carrying heat rock and the high SpAtk stat and good coverage makes chlorophyll sweeper almost irrelevant. If you want to use sun in PRO: - dont use ninetales it's too bad!!! - induce sun via sunny day+heat rock with a bulky pokemon like Arcanine (get's a boost in morning sun and flare blitz), Slowking (with a calm nature and SpDef investment is a good counter to rain and has enough sustain through regenerator and slack off), Tangrowth (with regenerator) or Blissey. They have recovery and guaranteed switch ins - dont pick more than two chlorophyll sweeper!!! - if you want to use venusaur dont use a modest one it just gets walled by blissey/chansey or Goodra (list is even longer). Use a mixed one (+Atk/SpAtk, -Def) because growth boost Atk and SpAtk (by 2 stages in sun). Invest into speed till you reach 199 Speed that's enough to outspeed jolly/timid base 130 like crobat/jolteon in sun and enough to outspeed every uninvested base 81 pokemon like Milotic if sun faded. Increase the speed investment if you have trouble with some choice scarf users but it's better to cover them with the rest of the team. the rest goes into Atk and SpAtk. Besides Sludge bomb you can use leaf storm, petal blizzard, petal dance or power whip as second stab move and earthquake as coverage move against fire, steel, poison and if you use leaf storm/petal dance to hurt special walls - choice scarf magnezone with magnet pull is a great addition as it can trap ferrothorn and scizor - impish donphan is a great addition to a sun team because it handles Talonflame with rock slide and stealth rock, has access to rapid spin and earthquake to pressure steel types - lanturn is another pokemon being able to handle talonflame and rain teams and has access to slow volt switches - to keep stealth rock on the bord think about a spin blocker other chlorophyll sweeper: - Victreebel (+SpAtk/Atk, -Def): growth, leaf blade/power whip, sludge bomb, weather ball needs a little bit more investment into speed than venusaur but has a higher Atk value - Shiftry (lonely): swords dance, sucker punch, knock off, leaf storm is the only chlorophyll sweeper that can kill talonflame with a +2 sucker punch if the sun is up. -Exeggutor (modest): psyshock, leaf storm, H.P. fire, rock slide/synthesis/sunny day/sleep powder
  3. Shadow Tag and Arena Trap are two different abilities. Arena Trap can only trap a hand full of pokemon while Shadow Tag can trap everything. Nothing else will be voted upon in the near future so try to enjoy PvP as it is for now. Thanks. That's only the case in theory. Everyone playing pvp (should) actually know that trapping is only relevant if the trapper can kill the opposing pokemon. The shadow tag user we just banned (mostly because u didnt allow any other options "because it would confuse players" --> ergo we are to stupid!) cant trap everything in practice. Switching those in on Dark, Bug, Ghost pokemon or a setup sweeper would only result in getting the trapper killed. It's like trying to trap Tangrowth with Dugtrio or Excadrill with magnezone (without air ballon and magnet rise). In theory yes they can but in practice it's irrelevant. I get the feeling it was a good idea to stop playing PRO PvP given that staff members responsible for the PvP-environment cant apply theory on the actual practice. That discussions going on for like a year are cut out of the descission making process, stats are interpretated wrong and even 62% votes get ignored (i'm part of the 38% btw). It feels like most decisions made by the staff are about personal feelings and not to reach a global goal. But Imo it has to be that way because there is no real goal for PRO PvP (how it should look like) and therefore making it "fair for everyone" is completely random.
  4. The 3HKO tells u that starmie isnt helping against the Triforce (Blissey, Slowbro, Tangrowth) because Psyshock and Softboiled have the same PP so u will get PP stalled and kill yourself because of recoil. I should prolly make a guide for this topic

    My team plan

I would run earthquake on Forretress instead of gyro ball to prevent being trapped by magnezone. It deals more dmg against rock types like TTar too. U also cover ice pokemon with arcanine and fairy with gengar. Would also run flare blitz, extreme speed, close combat and will-o-whisp/Thunder fang on Arcanine. Close combat to pressure TTar/blissey/snorlax and w-o-w to cripple physical attackers on the switch because u are really weak on that part. Thunder fang can be run over w-o-w to get the OHKO on Gyarados, 2HKO on tentacruel and get utility starmie in kill range with extreme speed. Gengar can run giga drain over thunderbolt to regain hp against ground (mostly spin-blocking donphan), water and rock types (e.g. TTar resists both stab moves) Blissey handles special rain sweeper pretty well and forretress with counter/EQ is enough for kabutops. I would run thunder wave over toxic too because u lack strong priority (e.g. paralysed Talonflame gets outspeed by magnezone) and toxic dmg is prolly to slow for your team Sand is handable because of forretress+Gyarados (intimidate) and if magnezone runs magnet rise over thunder wave. even if arena trap would work dugtrio (with 21+ hp iv's) cant switch into blissey's seismic toss if stealth rock is up. And without stealth rock u still deal 94% of dugtrios hp
  7. Snivy is the 3rd time boss reward of bugsy; certainly possible to get a good one. still unobtainable in the wild and the boss is ms only too. I have only seen the staff serperior in ranked on red till today. And the chance to get a timid h.a. one is abysmal low 1/25*5%=0,2% that's 500 tries. Overall u can get 365(days/year)/(6days*3)=20 snivys per year. A single player needs years to get one. With 500 players using a ms on a server that's 20*500*0,002=20 h.a. timid serperiors per year. and that's without calculating the iv's. Yes u can be super lucky, but a normal player just cant get a comparable pokemon in the same time as long as it isnt obtainable in the wild. and that should be the bar if u want to set one. But again the biggest advantage of those pokemon is the suprise factor not really the perfect iv's. team preview would solve that problem and many more.
  8. I dont mind if they use them. The only problem i actually see is that staff-pokemon like serperior or porygon-z will screw u over because u are totally unprepared. And u are unprepared because those pokemon arent actually in the game (unobtainable in the wild). Obtainable pokemon like Talonflame arent that big of a deal because u know how much dmg they deal and what moveset they use. Overall once u know that the enemy uses a certain pokemon it's not that strong anymore. And to be honest if noone knew about the talonflame with perfect iv's we would only see a talonflame with 31 speed and 31 Atk iv's. The mechanics/pokemon to beat talonflame are still the same. Imo the surprise factor is what makes those pokemon really strong not the perfect iv's. The only thing that would imo make scence is to lock all staff pokemon from ranked till all players can obtain them in the wild without a membership. Or implement teampreview so noone gets surprised by a not in the game pokemon.

  14. good to see that others realize that top 25 should mean the best 25 players of the server and not the best 7 with up to 4 accounts. Hope u dont get bashed like others suggesting this before (also pvp limited to 1 Account prevents that a single player can farm up to 2k points for a single guild or prevents that high ranked players can farm points from mid ranked players to secure their spot in top 25 and additionally makes boosting harder) Well as long as it's not impossible to play PvP on another account because you wanna play other (potentially less competitive) teams while still being able to try-hard on your main account as well. I've played a lot of stuff that i know couldn't compete with some of my other teams but i play them for fun (although Gothitelle often ruins this atm), which is what PvP should also be about. I used to do it on just one account so i dumped my rating since i wanted to play these teams. It excluded me from competing and people commented that i should just create another account, which i hadn't done since i didn't feel like progressing on a new account all over again. In the end i liked to compete as well so i made another account. I know the problem. But i think the solution should be an unranked q and not that u are forced to play multiple accounts if u want to get into top 25 and being able to try out stuff. It's a flaw in the current pvp environment and not a players fault.
  15. good to see that others realize that top 25 should mean the best 25 players of the server and not the best 7 with up to 4 accounts. 16. taunt is not as good as u make it sound without struggle (25% of max HP) which is besides substitute not working imo one of the biggest problems in PRO when it comes to challenging stall/defensive teams. In this case (infernape vs gothitelle) taunt wouldnt be helpful because gothitelle has a 2HKO on infernape anyways. Nasty plot on the other hand would have been helpful because at +2 overheat/fire blast is a OHKO, letting u kill any gothitelle that trys to setup on u and leave those going for the kill weakend. In general Gothitelle is weaker against anything that can set up faster (dragon dance, swords dance, nasty plot) and in a calm mind battle it's mostly about who crits first. But as we all know not every spatk pokemon can run setup moves or taunt. Also gothitelle is in 99% of cases (on red) build as a physical wall (bold+252HP+252Def) with calm mind and not as a special wall in the first place.
  17. sry to disappoint u but pursuit working will change nothing because pursuit wont OHKO a bold gothitelle even if the gothitelle wants to switch out while gothitelle will OHKO every dark type with signal beam at +6. I dont understand why so many players make a claim without any evidence to support their claim (trump is calling) To clear things up. Pursuit is a tool to revenge kill weakend bulky psychic types or offensive psychic types (starmie, espeon, alakazam). But to do so u need to be faster than your opponent (choice scarf TTar or Weavile against offensive ones) else u risk getting hit by a signal beam, focus blast, dazzling gleam or other strong stab move threatening u with the OHKO. Also keep in mind that pursuit is way better for smogon than for pro because we lack psychic types like latias, latios, azelf and pokemons with 600 base stats (mew, jirachi, celebi) are uncommon because 50% of them are synch fails and those having the right nature may have low iv's and others like alakazam or espeon are hard to obtain because they are h.a. and/or lack coverage moves (like focus blast). And a point even i havent touched till now is that with sinnoh (gen 4) we should get access to stuff like colbur berries which will kill every attempt to revenge kill it with a stab boosted dark type move. As long as gothitelle can set up to +6 for free it threatens every dark type switch in with a OHKO while only a boosted knock off (130 BP) ensures the OHKO on Gothitelle. Atm the OHKO from knock off can be prevented with a chesto berry letting it still end up at 100% HP because it can stall up to 80 pp from the enemy with calm mind and rest. says the player getting into top 25 (i believe for the first time) using gothitelle
  18. that's correct. It would allow time based stuff like cloaks/mounts only the top 1-5 players of the last season can use.
  19. Even tho i think that shadow tag itself isnt the problem i have to vote for a ban because in the current state gothitelle is just to powerful and we dont have other options to vote for because it would be to confusing for us (that's what the staff told me) Beeing the best trapper, the best pp-staller (u can stall up to 80 turns with only rest and calm mind that's even worse than stall) and the most reliable calm mind setter with only one moveset is to much. And one day trick+choice items are coded and it gets even worse. And we had to wait almost a year before this vote started. I dont mind trapping because if switching out is all the counterplay u need the game would be boring and stall would always win. But the combination of trapping and setting up, which is great against most spinner (starmie, tenta, blastoise), special attacker without a boosting move (magnezone, venusaur, roserade, politoad) and most walls, is to strong. The setting up also enables gothitelle to use a chesto berry because it can pp-stall even dual stab pokemon resulting in not beeing revenge killed by knock off. The strongest dark-type pokemon ada+life orb bisharp deals 79.3 - 93.6% with sucker punch (=boosted pursuit which isnt even working atm) against a bold gothitelle. so there is no easy revenge killing as some persons claim. In summery gothitelle is not only good against stall in the current state as ome players claim. Way more pokemon are pressured and forced to use inefficient movesets to prevent gothitelle from getting to +6 for free. Against all other setup sweeper u can switch in a counter, a haze user and one day hopefully unaware pokemon. Imo it would be enough and the best solution to ban calm mind/setup moves in combination with shadow tag. Goth would still be able to challenge stall because of taunt+toxic but would never be able to sweep complete teams or to pp-stall anything besides seismic toss blissey or pokemon with 4 status moves. And to keep the meta shifting and interesting we need more options not less. Also the ban in smogon resulted in gothitelle being playable in ubers. in PRO it will be gone (which makes the copy-pasterinoing the process from smogon even more ridiculous)
  20. Re: closed untill further notice. <t>i cancel my offer for jellicent. found one ingame</t>
  21. Good to see that some1 takes care about the topic. Imo The points should scale with the rank u achieved (like 500 for numer 1 and like 10% less for every position down to number 25). I would also like to see more players on the ladder like the top 100 or all players with a certain number of points On the guild reward i think it should be similar but only the best 15...25 players should count. Else the biggest guild would have the best chances to get number 1 and not the guild with the best players. Alternative accounts would be a problem too.
  22. Win rate is one of the worst indicators. The more players use it, the win rate gets closer to 50% because of mirror matchups. And there are a lot of mid elo players who cant execute gothitelle well enough (using wrong moves or switching in on the wrong targets or trying to setup to +6 even if they simply cant). If u want to use your stats u need to ignore all games with gothitelle in each team, differentiate into low, mid, high elo games and filter out secondary accounts if the player uses them only for testing or negative boosting (stealing high amounts of points from high ranked players to improve the rating of your main account) and not to get into top25 with them. As some1 who tracks every pvp battle since last august including the elo of the players I can tell u that most players climb up the ladder once they start using gothitelle. You are definitly correct banning shadow tag would delete gothitelle from pvp because we dont have tiers like ubers where u could still play it. It would also kill the intention to farm that pokemon. But I brought up calculations that gothitelle actually doesnt need calm mind to kill pokemon like chansey, klefki, slowbro etc. because it has access to the move combination of toxic+taunt which is part of standard stallbreaker like gliscor or mew. The difference is goth without calm mind lacks good recovery while the others cant trap. But chesto+rest is still enough to kill the above mentioned pokemon. Keep in mind that u can always stall at least 29 turns against faster pokemon and 45 turns against slower pokemon because of rest if the pokemon has only a 4HKO (like blissey with seismic toss). If u use the stall turns all u need is a bold nature+chesto berry+rest+calm mind+psyshock+signal beam right now. Banning calm mind for goth would increase the strategic depth because u need to adapt the nature or move set or ev spread depending on the meta. It is less simple but goth will always be valuable as a trapper but wouldnt be able to sweep a whole team. The list of pokemon gothitelle traps and kills or uses as setup bait is to big atm. U cant tell me that i shouldnt use pokemon like slowbro, blissey, tangrowth, tentacruel, magnet rise magnezone, starmie, blastoise, forretress, roserade, Venusaur, goodra, special eelektross, empoleon, florges, klefki, quagsire, swampert, politoed (yes water teams are gone), lanturn or Gastrodon (without curse) anymore or to build all of them specificly against one single pokemon to at least prevent the setting up to +6 which isnt possible on all of them (there are more but i havent mentioned all because some miss their ability or mega evolution to be relevant for PVP)
