You don't need focus sash to make it to the pvp ranked ladder. If anything they can come in handy in important tournaments.

It's slow, you will always hit first... with a good enough pokemon, haha, yea, thats it. You guys dont want Shadow Tag? Stop doing full stall teams. My team has a Gothitelle in it... And it is definitely not slow vs a fighting type and stallers. I don't have a stall team, I don't have the patience to EV train a tank. Gothielle in itself is not a poke that would seem interesting in pvp considering there are better options. The sudden use of this pokemon with its hidden ability is a desperate option by many to help counter something that is and has been broken in this game. I personally don't use one and would probably use one if I could but I don't blame those that use one since it is not easy to come up with a team to counter great walls of china that people use nowadays just because it's the easy way. Sadly nothing will be done about it and we have to cope with it until abilities and items that benefit offensive battlers are released. cheers

it was brought up with a valid argument (tm defog missing) but i added the counter arguments too. This whole discussion is heavily biased because we have different playstyles, play against different enemies and in different ratings. And reading the last 15 pages i got the feeling the goal improving the pvp experience for everyone (and maybe improve variaty in gameplay with the given content) got lost. Just because some1 is experiancing stuff ingame doesnt mean its the truth. I dont like a hard ban on Regenerator or Shadowtag too. That's the reason i added alternatives. If i follow the discussion i see the problem in the first case in the combination of regen Slowbro and natural cure Blissey while u cant trap Slowbro with pursuit. And in the second case its the combination with trapping and setting up and switching out for free (no pursuit) after the kill. choice items dont matter for gothitelle because of lock in -> cant use setup and dmg moves. So in both cases pursuit will improve gameplay, choice items and life orb not neseccarily because of recoil and lock in. IMO if we leave the route of hard ban Yes/No and try to find more alternatives we may find solutions better than smogon. Yes we have different playing styles but it is no surprise that defensive playing styles are heavily favored and those of us whom are more offensive tend to try twice as hard to remain on top while others don't.

As for what should be banned? It's pretty straight forward and the answer is kind of obvious. The lack of wall breaker items has caused a huge shift in favor of wall users. It is no surprise that many of the recent top dogs in pvp whom achieved the leaderboards literally used 5-6 walls in their teams, I won't mention names. Solution? Limit pokes considered to be a "wall" to say three in ranked battles. It wouldn't be too hard to come up with a list. I only see it as fair since some of us don't enjoy using that many walls in the first place.

First of all regen slowbro is not hard to counter, only reason it is overused is because people believe that using slowbro will give them an edge and now the massive use of such poke has resulted in an increase in the use of h.a. Gothielle. Classic story of adaptation just as with the skarmorys and magnezones with magnet pull. If Futz wants slowbro gone it's because he has a hard time taking it down.

has anyone found a flechlinder in trainers valley? I fear they might have been swapped for nuzleafs since i went through 2 rounds and no fletchlinders in either but I did find a couple nuzleafs.
