Nice to meet you all Im not familiar with many pokemon games but that's how my life is in general. I dont like mistreating pokemon even though it's a game I feel attached to them. I'm sorry but I'm not into trainer battles just exploring the world and having fun.

    Oh question- Ive seen Mew a second time but in Cerulean City. My trainer and I wanted to approach it but it saw me before the dialougue prompt closed. Am I supposed to catch Mew or was the game made to do that?

    Hi there. You aren't meant to catch Mew there. It's simply a little extra scene. There's a quest you'll have to do in order to catch Mew. You can read more about it on the Legendary Megathread.
