I am one of those people who rush trough the story as fast as possible to fill my dex after. That's why i will pick bulbasaur. although picking pikachu for his side story does sound interesting.

Also, all other 3 starters are catchable. And the locations they are found are alongside other rare Pokémon, so I would be hunting there anyways. Example: Eevee and Bulbasaur are both in Safari Zone, so makes it a good spot to hunt. Also Cinnabar Mansion, Charmander and Magmar

I had convinced myself that I was going to pick Bulbasaur for nostalgia sake, but after reading this thread, I'm unsure once again.
