Confirmation before running away from a shiny

Featured Replies

Hello, I would like to suggest some sort of extra mechanism is implemented where you would be asked if you are sure you want to run away from a shiny pokemon. A lot of guildies and I agree it would be very useful since we have had incidents where we would run away from shinies unintentionally.

In my case, I ran away from 4 shiny pokemon. The reason is when you are hunting for a specific pokemon for a long time and you run away from every other pokemon you are not interested in, sometimes you end up also running away from a shiny with is very unfortunate.

Man, I remember running away from my first shiny. It was on Pokemon Sapphire. At first, I thought it was the game being buggy, only to realize after a while that it was, indeed, shiny.

...I would like this sort of confirmation, but what I'm curious about is how it will be dealt with. I mean, it should be easy to code, but shinies tend to randomly pop out of nowhere. I'd like to think that just like shinies, the confirmation will start randomly popping out of nowhere whether the pokemon is shiny or not.

I haven't ran into a shiny yet, but isn't there some sort of visual indicator that says a pokemon is shiny in this game?

To trust someone, first you must doubt them...

You need to pay attention if you don't want to miss them, if you get into that habit you might run from pkmn you're hunting too, I KO my first shiny since I was grinding, would be pointless to add confirmation to attacks too though

In my opinion, its possible tho. coz when encountering a shiny it shows a dialogue "[glow=white]A Wild SHINY <name> appeared![/glow]". therefor i assume if its possible to put a "SHINY" word on the dialogue(when a shiny appears but not when its not), then it should also be possible to put an exclusive confirmation dialogue after clicking RUN. ofc excluding the non-shinies.

I was going to agree with the poster on some things because I'd like such a function too but it'd contradict the mechanics of any pokemon game and finding a shiny pokemon. To pay attention I'm afraid, is the only sure way you have of not letting a shiny pokemon slip away from your gaze.

I'd recommend not clicking on the run button before a wild pokemon even sets foot in the battle screen. I know it happens when you are busy grinding, fishing, leveling etc.

Well i feel that if this option could be easily implemented i see no reason why it shouldn't be implemented. It wouldn't influence the game play in any bad way since the option would only activate when a shiny appears and it would certainly solve the headache from lots of people that play this game a a lot. In my case and in cases of several other people i know, where we would hunt for a pokemon for hours or even days, we all had to deal with the headache of a lost shiny.

For someone to say "pay more attention to the game", I don't think its possible to give the game 100% of your attention at all times and also people play this game to have fun, sometimes doing several things at once.

How he can pay attention when shiny was only on 1/8k + or something ? the idea is wonderfull and should be happen.

Very nice though ! :)

Completely agree with lorxx here. After over 1.5k hours in game i only have 2 shinies to show for (not including the rat we all get), and i would be very very disappointed if i run away from a 3rd...

You should just turn sound on, belive me there is NO WAY you could run from shiny if you hear that "shiny sound" before encountering one. I consider it a warning system that is already implemented.
