I don't like it to be honest. I usually spend around 10-12 but occasionally I have to waste 30-50 balls. And yeah I don't disagree with Starlight. The handhelds have lots of balls which makes catching Beldum easier, such as the Timer Ball etc. I'd prefer that or upping the catch rate a little.

Re: Defeat Bosses with the less number of Poke <r><QUOTE author="PurpleMauth"><s> </e></QUOTE><br/> Great info, thanks a lot. <br/> <br/> Yesterday I thought about using Hyper Beam to deal specifically with Kingdra since Ice Beam didn't OHKO according to my calculations. But I was basing it on having double team on Seaking and realized it actually doesn't get it today so I came up with the Hail + Blizzard (+Aqua Ring to nullify Hail dmg) strategy. Considering you managed around 60% damage on Kingdra, Seaking with Life Orb + Blizzard should take it out in one hit. Especially with stealth rocks up, which is a great shout. I didn't even consider that, so thanks a lot for it. <br/> <br/> Carracosta or h.a. Relicanth could be used to set up rocks and for those who do not want to waste focus sash since it has sturdy, unless Thunder Paralyzes it and it can't move that turn. <br/> <br/> It's great to know that you were able to knock Lucario out with 2 Mach Punches too. I was afraid it would use some sort of priority against Breloom and OHKO it. <E>:thanks:</E></r>

Gotta admit, I would hate to face a Suicune in PvP, but he's won that from a tournament in PRO which everyone was able to participate in. So it's technically obtainable and is under the '600 base stat limit'. If this was about a staff only Latias/Heatran/Genesect or something you may have had a point, but I, personally, don't agree with you regarding the Suicune.

Re: Defeat Bosses with the less number of Poke <r><QUOTE author="NamelessHero27"><s> </e></QUOTE><br/> I saw <URL url="https://pokemonrevolution.net/forum/viewtopic.php?p=362850#p362850"><s></s>Aurusine<e></e></URL> suggest Lightning Rod Seaking with Agility, Double Team, Ice Beam, X. The reason behind that is the movesets of some Pokemon. Palkia has Thunder, Conkeldurr has Thunder Punch, Yveltal, Kingdra, Hydreigon has Thunder Fang, M Lucario.<br/> <br/> Unfortunately Seaking can't get Double Team in PRO but it's not a must. <br/> <br/> There's a possibility that even a modest Seaking with +6 spatk, holding Life Orb cannot OHKO Kingdra with Ice Beam (who may KO in return). So I thought about what can be done and here it is: Use Blizzard, Hail and Aqua Ring on Seaking (Aqua Ring will nullify Hail damage). Life Orb is probably necessary.<br/> <br/> While Palkia spams thunder, use Agility to maximize speed. When Palkia lands 6x Thunders, you can go for Blizzard or Hail to make sure Blizzard hits. And I suggest that since Blizzard has low PP. Eventually you will KO Palkia (possibly with 2x Blizzards)<br/> <br/> Conkeldurr will spam Thunder Punch. Wait for Hail to end (use Agility or something). Start Hail again so it's still up vs Yveltal and Kingdra. OHKO Conkeldurr with Blizzard. OHKO Yveltal with Blizzard. Hope for an OHKO on Kingdra with Blizzard since there's a chance it may not (you will OHKO if my assumptions are correct though). Hydreigon will switch in, wait for Hail to end while it spams Thunder Fang. Start hail again and OHKO it. Use Blizzard on Mega Lucario. It will not OHKO without a crit according to my assumptions and Mega Lucario might knock Seaking out in return, who will have taken some life orb damage by then.<br/> <br/> So bring a Mach Punch user in the back to finish Lucario off. Alternatively you can bring a Crawdaunt with Endeavor and Aqua Jet holding focus sash for backup. Lucario would spam Close Combat on Crawdaunt, then you could Endeavor and finish it off with Aqua Jet.<br/> <br/> Credit to Aurusine for the initial idea.</r>

https://play.pokemonshowdown.com/ Irrelevant, you're not even trying to understand. I have not suggested anything that would be against an MMO environment. So instead of acting like a kid, try to read and understand. Yeah, that, I guess, is a fair argument. I really appreciate that considering certain people insist on having the attitude of a 5 year old. I'd say the price difference between a decent Drilbur and 20x Drilburs is pretty high. Also worth mentioning is the fact that trash Pokemon usually don't even sell. But I guess it's still a valid point to get yourself a decent "X".

I mean, I get it. I get the "it's in their free time" thing, I get they are not payed, I get that's an hobby, I get all, and I appreciated that, strongly. BUT... we are a loyal community, we didnt' quit PRO even with all the problem, the delay, the bug, etc. No matter what, here we stay. Still it's not the first time I heard this "Don't like it, quit it" stuff. Instead of helping improve the game, "quit it". It's frustrating and disrespectful, if you want my opinion. Thankfulness must come from both side imho.. I totally agree. People, for some reason, take it to their hearts. This is just a criticism/suggestion. I may be wrong, tell me I'm wrong with your arguments. I won't bite. I didn't get a h.a. Dratini in over 5 months of on and off hunting. I didn't get a single h.a. Fletchling in over 6 (+2 in my Alt) months of headbutting each and every day. You didn't see me complain. I don't know how much effort you put into your Gothita hunt, 8 days is unfortunate. And guess what? You may never get one even if you spent 2000 hours. See the point I'm making here? Your effort may never pay off, which is why this thread exists. Have an argument against it? I'm all ears (eyes).
-
What I'm referring to here is that you may never get something that's worth using in PvP. So you're not really rewarded for your efforts there are you? And instead, you're punished. You're talking about epics. You may never get something that's worth money, because the chances are too low with stuff that people actually pay money for. That's the main point I'm making in this topic. See my reply to halvoure above. Also, PvP isn't the only aspect of the game. I know about all that mate, thanks for that. PRO is the best, but it doesn't mean it hasn't got flaws. I don't understand why you guys get touchy with criticism. Criticism helps a certain thing improve. And I'm not sure if advertising other Pokemon MMOs is allowed here. Tell me about it. It's always that or "this is an MMO".

Pff, I'm not gonna even bother with someone who can't read a text as a whole.

Your progression in excavations don't really affect your odds of getting a good Pokemon. It's more "unlockables" rather than progressive RNG. Excavations is at least a decent feature though. Yeah and that's what the problem is. Have you even read my post? It's ALL RNG. Let me give you an example to make it more clear. This is not what I'm suggesting, it's just an example. You catch 100x of a certain Pokemon, the 101st is guaranteed to have 10+ IVs in each stat. See, your effort is somewhat rewarded here. It's not all RNG that way.
-
Ok I'm not gonna bother with long paragraphs this time since it's a waste of time considering this thread will be replied with a pasted text from one of the staff members prior to being locked. PRO doesn't reward effort. The effort you put in only results in you trying your luck for more. Attempting to get lucky more than once. LUCKY. Progressive RNG is a thing and PRO needs it. If it's impossible in PRO, change the rarities, make them more friendly. 2 hours (irl) of button mashing without an extremely rare isn't fun or fair. Yes, luck might be what drives the interest of so many PRO players, but not for a very long time and that's why many people quit. I'm not saying luck factor should be removed. What I'm saying is, effort has to be rewarded. I can be hunting in Victory Road Kanto 2F for a week just to get a good Drilbur, and you may just be passing by without a sync etc. & encounter an epic one. The problem here isn't you getting lucky, luck has to be in this game. The problem is that I ended up with 20 Drilburs far from even just 'usable'. This is just an example. "This is an MMO" as a reply doesn't count. There are MMOs that reward effort, not only luck. That's all I have to say. Most likely nothing will be done, but who knows...

Its value would still reflect its difficulty if it was abundant. It would be cheap as chips! There's nothing wrong there. bladermagician has also made a great point, you would've made the money within 3 weeks 8 hours and bought yourself a Gothitelle. The problem here is that this game is all luck. Luck luck luck. Encounter? Luck. Nature? Luck even though it's 50%. IVs? Purely luck. Ability? Luck unless you're hunting Gastly or similar. This game rewards luck and luck only. It doesn't reward the time you spend in any way and that's what's wrong. And in a game that is based purely on luck, the rarities are way too cruel. So what if your Gothitelle didn't cost 5m and costed 500k instead? That's just the economy adapting. If the rarities were more friendly, your Gothitelle costing 500k wouldn't have affected you since everything that's extremely rare and needs h.a. would be around the same price. So what's the problem? Your money is still the same value. I spent over a week hunting Hippopotas, 5+ hours daily. From 10:00-20:00 PRO time, I was lucky to even encounter 1! And Hippopotas doesn't even need h.a., it only has 1 ability except its h.a.! So there was a 95% chance I'd get the right ability, 50% to sync nature but the rest was all down to luck!!! I, in the end, did manage to find one that is "usable" (not great). The thing is, my effort wasn't rewarded, I was just lucky. Tier 9s are too rare. 2 hours+ real time for a single tier 9 which will most likely be trash isn't normal in any way.
-
Mash left and right arrows for 2 hours for an extremely rare and when you finally manage to encounter one, find out that it has trash IVs, ability and your sync hasn't worked.
-
It's like that with almost everything that is tier 9 (extremely rare) nowadays. I don't know if they upped the rarities, but I've heard a lot of people having 'bad luck' with extremely rares lately, including me.
-
Absolutely. However I think that's branching into a separate issue. Reward balancing is something that should definitely be talked about moving forward. Like you said, the quality of the boss battle should have qualified rewards. I don't know what those might be, but I do agree. A lot of bosses have fine rewards, but bosses like Toothless/Wargreymon/Sgath and Keres don't have rewards that justify me even thinking about fighting them. Yeah. It's still kinda related to Greinjack's team update since the increased difficulty makes it harder to manage to get 3 consecutive wins and the rewards are trash if you don't achieve that. But I know I'm not exactly on topic, just had to get it out. Thanks for making it possible to have a nice discussion. :y:
-
Nice luck there. :P Yeah everyone's motivation towards getting a Pokemon is of course different, there's nothing wrong with that. I see your point, but there's a way for at least Synchronize to work just like how it does with Gingery Jones. Then again, even if that wasn't the case, the rewards could've been made better. Not for Greinjack only (though especially for him) but for all bosses. Who wants Silver Powder as a reward from someone who gives something once per 12 days only? The rewards should actually BE REWARDS, not something I can go and easily get from a PokeMart/dig spot/wild Pokemon. Did I manage to get my point across? (a little sleepy here) I had this in my mind the whole time, Greinjack's team update was only an excuse to actually talk about it since I was reluctant to create a suggestion thread as they seem to be either ignored or get spammed with "this is an MMO ^^ ^^ ^^ ^^ ^^ ^^ ^^ ^^!!!" or both.
-
You have some great points. This may also allow the usage of Pokemon that are normally never used. Such as Lightning Rod Seaking, I've seen someone suggest using it vs Greinjack since the AI will spam electric type moves against it. And it's nice to have a boss that's actually somewhat challenging. However, Greinjack is stingy. 36 days per Pokemon reward is not really rewarding considering the fact that Pokemon rewards usually have trash IVs, nature and ability. IF you manage to defeat the boss for a 3rd consecutive time without the server crashing that is (which is a rare occurrence but happens). And yeah he's now harder to defeat. We may struggle to even get 3 consecutive wins to get the Pokemon we want. Just why? What's with the constant grind/rarity/luck fetish?
-
Well tbf I never had it in the middle of a boss fight or anything, but I do experience crashes every now and then. Sometimes more than once in an hour and I play on blue as well. That's not the main point I'm making though. Greinjack only gives what, berries, for defeating him and you only get a Pokemon 24 days after you first face him, then 36 days per Pokemon reward if everything goes your way... Why is it like that? Boss rewards are generally trash anyway, why make it harder to obtain a decent Pokemon that you might actually use? I don't mind the increased difficulty, it's good to have something challenging for a change as you have already explained in the topic you created. My main argument is about the stinginess.
-
I don't understand the 1st sentence Server might be better but when it does crash on you, all you get is an "I'm sorry for the inconvenience ^^ ^^ ^^ ^^ ^^ ^^ ^^ ^^ ^^ ^^ ^^ ^^ ^^" reply so it doesn't really help does it?
-
Hello zonamarelarap, I am sorry for the inconvenience you have experienced. Unfortunatly, unless the team breaks the power restrictions our policies have the Person that received a boss in his name as reward is able to change the team as it wants, as its his reward and permanent image ingame. Also, bosses are meant to be challenging, and not 100% victories sprees over them, I understand the dificulty and that you just want to be able to beat the boss, but winning will show that you know how to play and will give an extra satisfaction over beating the boss. I would also like to remind that, in this case, this boss has 3 diferent rewards that are only avaiable from him at the time being (Hawlucha, Zorua and Croagunk), which should only be possible after some hard fought battle, to which is the current state. Previously the boss was hard, but it had a bunch of cheap tricks in order to beat him and it was granted an upgrade. Lol. 36 days to get 1 of 3 normally unobtainable Pokemon with most likely bad nature, ability and IVs. Oh and let's not forget that we must pray that the server doesn't crash in the middle of the battle. Are you guys actually serious? Have you thought this through? The game is going backwards each and everyday with crazy rarities, stuff that require immense luck and luck only. You can spend an enourmous amount of time for something you want/need with no result. There's more to an MMO than constant grind and luck.
