the team should work, its just horrible underleveled. I recommend leveling them to level 80 in victory road, or when you get desperate, buy a cheap level 100 from another player.

In Return you get access to Johto / Access to Mt.Silver for Johto Elite 4. You can always train up your pokes to certain levels, so you wont need that many revives / healing items.
