In my opinion, travesty is the exact word that the writer was looking for to build Jackson's personality. Jackson is an arrogant, egotistical character who views himself as the center of the universe. By calling the situation a travesty, he is referring to his Pokemon's performance as a "false, absurd, or distorted representation of" his ability as a trainer. While the word tragedy could also be used here, it would represent a completely different feeling. I would actually argue that sometimes Jackson's dialogue is a bit too formal. As you progress through the game, you will notice that many writers, with various writing styles, worked together to create the story line.
  2. The story of this game wasn't given nearly as much thought as even the comparison you just made. Just enjoy it for what it is. :)
  3. Sorry to hear about your bad luck. :( I would recommend exiting the game after you catch anything particularly valuable or rare. By doing so, you force save your progress which can prevent losing the Pokémon.
  4. I agree with everything you said. :y:
  5. Happy Birthday, Somes! Enjoy your day. :)
  6. Welcome back. :)
  7. Let me see if I can help. 1. Where to see the membership only Pokémon: my advice would be to look in the guide section of the forums for Pokémon spawn posts. Here you'll see exactly which Pokémon spawn in which areas, and the membership pokemon are singled out. 2. You do NOT receive membership for every $5 donated. Instead, you use your coins to "purchase" the membership medallion which is then used to activate membership. 3. As far as the Christmas event goes... I'm really not sure. I haven't been able to login to the server due to over capacity in weeks. Maybe someone else can help here. Cheers! :) Hmm, thanks so much for your post, but coming back to #2, the picture in that thread shows exactly what the account page still shows now; which is "For every $5 Donated we will reward you with 30 Days of Membership Benifits!" Was that an old deal or something then? lol I'll let someone else with more current knowledge answer that question. In the past, it did work in the way it is described in Deathwing's post, but I DO believe that message is outdated. *slowly backs out of the thread* Good luck!!
  8. This is a good suggestion. Most choices in this game have a confirmation window, so I don't see why this couldn't be implemented as well.

  10. Sorry Ralmn, but you can't reset your starter choice. This is to prevent players from resetting their starter choice until they get the perfect Pokémon with perfect IVs. Don't be sad about starting with Bulbasaur! Bulbasaur was my very first Pokémon and it is the easiest one to start with. You'll be able to catch Squirtle and Charmander later in the game, so don't get discouraged. As the other user mentioned, you could also create a new account if you really wanted to. Regardless, good luck on your adventure! :)
  11. Lightshot is very simple and easy to use. I've never had a problem with it, and I've never had a need for anything more advanced.
  12. Have you found the move relearner yet? I know this doesn't *solve* your issue, but it might help your Pokémon feel less useless. ;) No I haven't :) Will I be able to find one before I have to face Misty? Going up against her with my "no grass move" ivysaur will not be fun Yes. There is an NPC in Cerulean City who can help ya. Good luck! :)

  14. This is worth a shot. Everyone who has experienced this glitch in the past has eventually been able to get past it, so just keep trying. :)

I could get on board with an idea like this.
  16. This isn't a bug, but I can see why you were checking on it. Not every NPC requires you to defeat them to continue along in the story. This is intentional. You are able to rebattle MOST NPCs outside of Gym Leaders, whether you win or lose, after 1 week.
  17. games been oiut 5 months on the 15th this month ;) Wasn't there a closed beta or something liket that, i remember the server was very small too, i had to wait for 2 days before i could get in.... Yes. It "launched" in August, but it's been around for much longer. I remember this username. Welcome back!!

Lethalmike, thank you for your suggestion. I do agree that it would be useful to have access to this information from the battle screen. Occasionally, the battle interface, GUI, etc. is updated and this could be a potential inclusion in the future. For the time being, if you click on your Pokemon in the party, you can see the Pokemon's current HP there.

Recently the Global Moderator role was re-purposed to serve in a similar way as the position you described. Since this game was released, the staff has held onto the idea that we want the community to help each other. This is why *we* direct players to the Guide section of the forum, typically don't answer quest-related questions, and encourage the players to explore the world and find their own way. That being said... we'll be keeping a closer eye on the Help channel to identify potential CC apprentices. :)
