This is also partially a player's fault. You could have easily evolved it at lvl 99 and used later a rare candy to lvl to 100. It is never safe to evolve a poke at the last level. You're suggestion is noted and we'll discuss it tho.

The choice really doesn't matter. I'd recommend blue if you're a new player actually, easier to access and has smaller queues
