Mudkip is the one i prefere the most, but to build my "hoenn story team" I choose Torchic. Any reason why you picked torchic for the story? And when you said torchic are you assuming I let it fully evolve and not run the whole story as a torchic? I just thoung about what team to do in order to finish the story in Hoenn and studying the spawns I thought the best team was Torchic, Pelipper, Ralts, Axew, Roselia, Magnemite. Of course is just an opinion, but i preferred it like this and no, I haven't evolve them 'till the league.

Excatly, even if lost of pokemon are not updated to gen VI yet.

The spanws are similar, but can also change very much from the original games: it depends from area to area. Consider that in Kanto there are lost of pokemon from the genetarions above the I one, so, mainly for the MS pokemon, the spawns are different.

When the countdown of the queue stops is because your client loses the connection with the server. Sometimes in happens to me, but never to prevent me from playing for 5 days.

To answer your question, in this game we have 3 regions from the I, II and III gen game, but the pokemon and the datas are updated (or waiting to be updated) at the gen VI. The spawns of the game are different from the original games btw. You have an arrow on the top right of the screen to discover which spawns a certain area has.
