Hi guys, with the release of the new Christmas event I've decided to make a guide to make sure what you need to do to experience the full joy of this event. Major Credits to Alixx7, Piinetree, Norex and XanthinaRose who helped me with information to make this guide. To start off the quest we must head over to the Matsuki Island, this can be accessed by speaking to Aero Airlines NPC from the Resort Area in Sinnoh. We will need minimum 5k to use their service (transit pass will not work). 



 

Now that we have arrived on the Island, head north and speak to an NPC named Paya. She will explain how there is a disaster which will destroy the village. She herself doesn't know the full details and ask us to head to the village shrine if we want to know more. 



We must now head to the Village Shrine which is located north of where we spoke to Paya in a narrow pathway, you will know its the shrine area as there will be alot of NPCs gathered.  



Walking closer will cause dialogue to prompt. After all the dialogue is finished, speak to Maz Koshia who was expecting us to help the village in the disaster. Agree to help him out and head over to the Wastelands.

The Wastelands can be accessed by going through the gate opposite of the Reroll Ticket Exchanger and heading right of the the Large tree.

Now that we are in the Wastelands, we must follow the path down the stairs and get close to the Keldeo.  Interact with it, however it will ignore you and run away.



 

We must now do the next step which is battling a few Pokémon around the map, so once we defeat them they will calm down.

These will be all the battles, however you will receive dialogue that there is one more battle left to fight, this is not the case. You will need to find and speak to a talking Noctowl to progress on. 

To find the Noctowl, you will need to find the rock which Walrein is surfing around and opposite the rock there will be a bridge, go over the bridge and follow the path, you will find the talking Noctowl. 



Noctowl will give us some advice on our journey. He says we will need to get 3 gems and recover the life orb aswell as further information.  

So now we must find the 3 gems. This can be done in any order.

To start the quest for the Mountain Gem we must head back to where you last fought Metagross and go right to Mountain Area Dungeon.
 

Once you have entered, you will be met with a Graveler who will be asking for your assistance to help his dad and a few others. The only way we can free them is by standing on 3 pressure pads. To do this you will need Pokémon of a certain weight to help you. However before we get to these stages, I advise we fight the trainers who are blocking our path as they are all super boss battles (no items cam be used in battle e.g. revives). 

Trainers:
Okumura - Mega Aerodactyl, Metagross, Rotom-Heat, Tyranitar, Gengar and Greninja. 

Shoji - Dragonite, Lucario, Mega Garchomp, Clefable, Nidoking and Gyarados

Tokuma - Azumarill, Serperior, Aegislash, Weavile, Mega Beedrill and Medicham

Akamine - Pelipper, Mega Swampert, Scizor, Rotom-Wash, Togekiss and Infernape

Hirashima - Mega Lopunny, Staraptor, Conkeldurr, Alakazam, Hydreigon and Gardevoir

Now that we've got the battles over and done with we will first need a Pokémon between the weight of 100-199KG 


Interact with the pressure plate which is at the very start of the map where the Piplups are and select a Pokémon within the weight limit needed (100-199kg). If you have done it right you will receive the dialogue for it. 

The second pressure plate is located futher along infront of the lake right underneath the bridge, you will need a Pokémon between the weight of 200-299KG


If you have the correct weight you will once again see the dialogue.

The final pressure plate is located just before the cave entrance. For this pressure plate to be activated you will need a Pokémon which weighs more than 300KG. 



If you see the dialogue once again, you will be able to continue.  

If you're uncertain what weight range is needed for each pressure plate, the 2 rocks either side of the pressure plate give you the range. 

Additionally if you're interested in knowing the weights of Pokémon a Google search can help, checking the ingame pokédex or Bulbapedia, the link for the Bulbapedia Pokémon weight page can be accessed here. 

Once you're done, I advise you prepare a team as you will need to fight a Super Boss battle inside the Mountain Area Maze. 

Head over to the top of the Mountain Area Dungeon and speak to Darunia's Son (the Graveler who asked for your help). He will then give you an Arcanine Outfit (Hat and Clothes) as his friends do not trust humans, wear them and head down the ladder. 




Now that we are done the ladder, we will be in the Maze Area. Once in the Maze Area we will need to use a Pokémon who has the move Flash Tutored or a Flashlight so we can see in the dark cave. 

Speak to Darunias son who will ask you to find his friends which are gathered around the maze. The friends varies quantity and location are random for every player, there will be between 2-4 friends needed to be found. To find them, I advise looking at every corner possible as the maze isn't that big. 

After they're found speak to Darunia's Son once again at the end of the maze and enter the chamber area. Once in the chamber area head over to where you see 2 Graveler's and a Charizard X, walk and battle Volvagia who is keeping Darunia hostage.

Once you've defeaten Volvagia, speak to Darunia the Golem and he will thank you for the effort you've given into rescuing him. You will be given the Mountain Gem and be transported out of the Maze. 

Once obtaining the Mountain Gem, you can now go ahead and find the other 2 Gems if you haven't already.

To start the quest for the Forest Gem, we must head over to the area where we fought Typhlosion in the Wastelands and head right to enter the Forest Dungeon.



Once you have entered, you will see an NPC named Old Sarah, speak to her. She will ask you to leave her alone, however continue interacting with her and she will eventually tell you what's wrong and how you can help her. 

Her Shroomish is injured and you must agree to help her save it, you will need the following items to save it:

•15 Leaf Stones - 3.5k each from any Department Store 

•10 Revival Herbs - 2.8k from any Department Store 

As a result, the Shroomish will evolve now. Old Sarah will give you one more task. She will ask you to find Green Pigment, Green Moss and Cotton which can be found in the surrounding area. She will need these items in order to make the Breloom outfit for you. 

The items can be found in the following places: 


•Green Pigment - lily pad without a flower (bottom left circle) 

•Green Moss - object behind tree (circle behind tree) 

•Cotton - lilypad with a flower (top right circle)

After finding all 3 items head back to Old Sarah and she will make the Breloom Outfit (Hat and Clothes) for you. Now we must wear the outfit and head north to enter Forest Maze.

Once we are in the Forest Maze, we will need to find 3 levers. Finding the 3 levers will allow you to gain access to the Boss we will need to battle later on, the "Forest Master". 

There are several levers, so the lever combination varies between players, you will know a lever is correct for you when you interact with it and a dialogue comes up. In the images below are some possible levers. (Full credits to XanthinaRose and Norex for the locations)

Once you have interacted with your correct levers. You will be transported to the Forest Dungeon Boss Room. Over here we will fight the Forest Master. His lineup is:

After defeating him, he will reward you the Forest Gem. To exit the room, just walk down from where you fought the Boss. 

Once obtaining the Forest Gem, you can now go ahead and find the other 2 Gems if you haven't done so already. 
 

If having failed to defeat the Forest Master, you will need to find one specific lever to be transported back to the boss. Hints can be found on the stone plating at the start of the maze

To start the quest for the final Gem, head over to the Wastelands. South of the Wastelands there will be an unnamed pirate NPC.



Speak to him. You will exchange information with one another about the Gem however first you will need to help him. You will need to help him rescue 6 pokémon at a Glacier (Burring Strait). 

These pokémon are located randomly behind the Ice Crystals at Burring Strait. However the map is small so shouldn't take long to fine, so double check everything. Below there is an example picture showing how hard it might be to see without going up close. 



Once this task has been done, head back over to the unnamed pirate, as a reward he will give you the Greninja Outfit (Hat and Clothes) so you can dive down to Burring Strait Underwater. Head back north of the map towards the underwater entrance. 



Once Underwater, you will be greeted by 8 Wishiwashi. They will scatter around and you will need to find them. These are not random for all users. You will just need to interact with the brown rocks looking like this to get them out of hiding. 



After gathering all 8, a brief animation and some dialogue will happen and we will be sucked in Lord Wally Wally's mouth. The task in here is pretty simple we will just need to fight 1 Wishiwashi-Schooling form.

All we have to do is head north from Wailord Mouth to Belly of the Great Beast and interact to the rock right of the Free Leftovers Pokéball. 


And Congratulations you have either found your last Gem or 1 of the 3. You can go ahead and find the other 2 or carry on to the next bit.

The final task is to head back to Matsuki Village and head over to the Lord's Castle (Matsuki Castle), it's located behind the Elmer NPC. It won't be hard to miss as you will see 2 guards infront. Speak to them once you've obtained all 3 Gems to allow them to let you through. 



Once you're through, you will encounter the Noctowl who gave you knowledge early on, speak to him and then enter the castle. You will see alot of guards. Walking infront of them will cause them to be alerted and battle you, however with time and caution you can skip through all of them as they are not required to battle.  

Head all the way north of the castle until you are stopped by the Noctowl once again. Consider this a small check point until you'll have to fight the final Boss, so if you haven't reseted your pokémon I advise to do so before going on. 

Now that we are ready, for 1 of the 2 final battles from the final boss. Head north from where Noctowl stopped you. The player will be confronted by the Lord and Advisor Kohga. Dialogue will occur and the Noctowl will reveal to be the famous legendary Nikola.

Once you're done with the battle, some dialogue will occur and you will be transported into Matsuki Courtyard for one final battle against a Mega Tyranitar.

After defeating it, some dialogue will occur. After this, you will need to head back to Matsuki Village and speak to Maz Koshia again at the Shrine. 

Once this is done, grab your sync and other hunting pokémon in preparation to catch Keldeo. It will be located in Crystal Cave, the entrance to it will be located north of Matsuki Courtyard.



Enter the cave, walk all the way through, at the end you will see Keldeo and Nikola. 



Whenever you're ready, interact with Keldeo and catch it. 

Once you've caught it, speak to Nikola. Wish him goodbye and the quest will be over. (I stress that this bit in particular is very important if you want the full present from Santa in Matsuki)

Here are some frequently asked questions about the event answered here.

Q: I disconnected in a battle with Keldeo, how can I respawn it. 
A: keldeo will be waiting for you in the Crystal Cave for it to be caught if having failed the first attempt. 

Q: Santa White Baron didn't give me all the items compared to what other players got, why? 
A: unfortunately if you didn't complete all of the quest, that includes saying goodbye to Nikola in the Crystal Cave then you won't get the full present. So before claiming the present make sure to have done all of the quest as it is progress based. 

Q: How do I get Keldeo Resolute form? 
A: In Matsuki Village left side of the Pokémon Centre, there is an NPC named Sam Urai, he offers to teach your pokémon the move Sacred Sword for 15k. Teaching Keldeo will change its form.

The Elmer NPC, is a mini boss side activity. The challenge is to fight him using a monotype team in a 3v3 fight. In a monotype battle all pokémon must atleast share one common type. Both single-type or dual-type Pokémon are allowed, for example Gengar qualifies for both a Poison-type or Ghost-type only team. Whether you win or lose to him, he will be rechallangeable 24 hours from the last fight. If having beaten Elmer 20 times he will give the player a Reroll Ticket, wins from 1-19 will be rare candies.

Team Composition: Random team for everyone and different everyday, however as it is a monotype battle, his Pokémon will share a common type.  

Team Level: level 100

 

Rules: You can only use 3 different Pokémon and they must all share a common type, must be level 100. Items such as Light Clay, Damp Rock, Smooth Rock, Heat Rock cannot be held by your Pokémon. Moves such as Disable and Destiny Bond are also not allowed to be used.

Location: Matsuki Village, just infront of the entrance of Matsuki Castle

Cooldown: 24 hours from the previous battle

Rewards: Rare Candies, 20 win reward is a Reroll Ticket.

Every player will receive a gift for Christmas, the gift can still be claimed after Christmas day itself. There is a big tree in the middle of Matsuki Village where Santa WhiteBaron is and next to it is a present for you to claim. 


There are 2 sets of present for the players, the determination of which gifts you will receive are based of quest progress the player has done. 

Players who have not fully completed the Main Quest will receive Set 1:


Players who have fully completed the Main Quest will receive Set 2:


To guarantee the better Gift set, after you catch Keldeo, Speak to Nikola and wish him goodbye. That is all that is needed.  So I highly recommend if you want the better gift double check that you have done this. Note that if you have already accepted the gift before completing the quest, you will not be able to get the gift with more items.

How it works:
it's a simple hunting event, players must hunt for a Pokémon which has the chance of being Christmas form. The Pokémon submitted itself doesn't need to be the Christmas Variation. You can access the PRO wiki counterpart page here, to see which pokémon can have a form. 

There will be 3 phases of the hunting event so this means there will be 3 winners, 1 from each phase

The player with the highest amount of points at the end of each phase will gain the prize (yet to be revealed).

How do I get high points:
Well simply, you have to catch the most appealing and desirable Pokémon. Points are awarded based of IVs, Tier and Form (normal, shiny and christmas). So more points will go out to the highest amount of IVs, The higher the Tier (can be checked with the reborn bot) and if it has a special form rather than it's normal. 

 

How can I participate: 
The NPC where you submit your pokémon to is located on Evergreen Island right infront of the Pokémon Centre, you can just use Aero Airlines to transport you there. Additionally the player will have to submit a Pokémon caught as of when each different phase has started, fear not also as the Pokémom won't be taken away from you. 

What do I win:
As of yet, full details haven't been revealed but it's a Pokémon which can Mega Evolve. It's  Ability and Nature will be good, however it's IVs will be randomised.

Xmas tokens are a form of currency which is exclusive to the Chrismtas event, if you had earned any from last year it would roll over to this year. Additionally more tokens can be earnt via doing various tasks on Evergreen Island.

In this section here, I will be explaining all the details regarding the mini activities that can be done for earning event tokens 
Trevor's Hide and Seek

Trevor is an NPC which players can interact with in Evergreen Village House 6 to play a mini game of hide and seek. 

How it works: 
- Trevor has 4 shiny Pokémon a Riolu, Pikachu, Litwick and Eevee. He will send them out and you'll need to find them. The location of the Pokémon are randomised every time and random for every player, however when speaking to Trevor, you can ask him for a free first hint on each individual Pokémon and any more hints will cost Christmas Tokens. 

Reward: 
- For each of the Pokémon found, the player will be rewarded 5 tokens so if every Pokémon is found we will gain 20 tokens

Cooldown: 
- 12 hours from when the mini game started 

Location of Pokémon using hints: 
- Three long bridges = Evergreen Island Valley 
- Two long bridges and a hole with a ladder = Evergreen Island Crystal Cave 

- A boat and lots of people coming and going = Evergreen Island Valley Shore

Underground Battles 

Underground battles are a series of battles where the player faces of against 10 trainer's who's lineups are randomised. The entrance to the underground battles can be found past the tree with a hole in Evergreen Island Crystal Cave.

 
How it works: 
- All the player needs to do is battle 10 different trainers who have random lineups. After each battle the trainers Pokémon will automatically heal before they go on to battle the next trainer. The challange can be done 3 times a day. 

Rewards: 
- 1 Christmas Token for each trainer defeated, if having defeated every trainer, the player will get 5 extra tokens so that will be a maximum of 15 from each round, maximum 45 a day.

Cooldown:
- 24 hours
