PVP Council Hi, I’m NJNP. I’m mostly known for my team building and high level tournament play on smogon. I’ve dipped into the competitive scene here in the past and I’ve fully immersed myself into pro after some push to come back. That is the goal of this post: to improve the pvp scene of pro. On smogon, most decisions especially competitive ones are made by a group of people. That group is called a council. That group generally is of some of the best players in their competitive format and has good knowledge on the meta-game. They proceed to make sure the metagame is in proper order and deal with problematic elements of the metagame as they appear. The council is generally known for holding suspects. The council is to see if these Pokémon are guilty of being killers of the meta or are they innocent and perfectly fine for the meta. The decision to what should be suspected is single handily up to the council but heavily influenced by the community. The council doesn’t suspect something that does not have community interest or concern. Generally before something is decided to be suspected, the council asks the community their opinions before they move forward with a decision. I feel a council would be great for pro pvp as megas are coming and legendaries are becoming more accessible. The council will aid the community in making decisions for the betterment of pvp. I’d want the council also to aid in creating an official viability rankings for pvp. I’m not sure exactly why one hasn’t been commissioned in the past but I think it would make sense for players regarded as the best at pvp to be able to help others understand what is good in the meta-game. I have 2 council concepts that can be decided or at least give an idea on the set up. Concept #1: 2 CO Leaders 1 From Silver 1 From Gold 3 Council Members 5 Members In Total Concept #2: 1 Leader Representing Both Servers 4 Council Members 5 Members In Total I’d like to hear people’s opinions on bringing a council to pro pvp and if anyone has any questions feel free to post them below and I’ll answer them.3 points

Hopefully the game staff is willing, it would be for the betterment of pro. Most don’t actively play pvp to my knowledge so it be great for another party to regulate. I don't know why you would assume that the parties would make decisions in their best interest when it states that they refer to the community before making any decision or starting any suspect. If no one is talking about for example: Garchomp then the council can’t randomly suspect garchomp...if they were to for whatever reason the admins can reprimand/terminate the leader. The admins/mods here would elect the leader. The leader would then do his best to make a non bias selection on who represents the council. The council members can be council members as long as they wish but must be active and helping/repersenting the community. Who is on the council will most definitely be public knowledge. They should be held accountable just like any other party and be transparent with any decision.3 points

Hey there, PRO'rs! My name is Stix and I just spent the last 10 hours recording in PRO! I compiled my 10 hours into a short 8-minute overview of part of the game in an attempt to help my viewers find the Pokemon MMORPG they're after. Please let me know what you think: I plan on doing one on PokeOne as well soon, where I'll go over the differences and bring more attention to the game. Here is our review of it for those of you more interested in that aspect of this: Pokemon Revolution Online Review. Thank you all for taking the time to watch/read/check it out, and I hope to see some of you in-game! Best Regards, Stix.1 point

I'll start off by saying that this is a step towards the right direction. Staff, I know you already had this planned long before my thread but at least the whole concept of letting us catch all legendaries is something you're for after all. Anyway let's get right into it. So first of all this is the information I've gotten about the mysterious ticket: * 1 single ticket costs 100 pvp coins OR pve coins. * The odds for getting a legendary is 45%, odds for rotom is 5% and you have a 50% chance of getting a pseudo legendary. * The legendaries that can be obtained are Mew, Celebi, Raikou, Suicune, Entei, Jirachi, Latios, Latias, Heatran, Azelf, Uxie, Melsprit (12 different legendaries) Based on this information it's clear that the odds of obtaining a legendary that you want already is really low. Let's say you want a relaxed Uxie for example and that you chose to catch Azelf out of the sinnoh trio. The odds of catching the Uxie with the mysterious ticket is 1/12 of 45/100 which is a 3.75% chance. So the let's round that off and say it's a 4% chance. For 100 pvp coins you get a 4% chance of catching your desired legendary which you will also either have to use a bunch of ultra balls or use a master ball to catch (just as catching a normal legendary I guess, but just pointing it out) which means most people will end up spending 110 coins if they do get lucky and encounter any legendary at all for that low 45% chance. What I think should be changed: * The pseudo legendary spawns AND the rotom spawn should be either completely removed or changed to something like 20-10%. Sure, we're able to use both pvp and pve coins to obtain this ticket but unless you spam pvp it will take a long time to get a ticket without having to buy many many expensive tickets in trade chat to obtain that desired legendary you want (this also includes ladder players since they still have to wait until the next month to get those reward coins). Regarding pve coins, you can only get like 25(?) every 4 days from the battle tower and also the sinnoh underground where you can go once a day and get 1-3 pve coins if you find the treasure. What I'm trying to say with all this is that it's wayyy too much of a gamble to make it worth it and only the really rich players and the players who ladder every single season will be able to get their desired legendaries except a few lucky players. Keep in mind, there's also a 50% chance to even land the sync once you encounter your desired legendary which makes the odds even lower of getting what you want. * Either what I wrote above or make it a lot easier to obtain mysterious tickets or lower the price A LOT. With the current odds I would say it's just a big scam until those tickets cost about 30-40 pvp coins and 50 pve coins. Another way of solving this could also be to always include free mysterious tickets in upcoming events and make some bosses give them as reward (and not with incredibely low odds). With all this being said I still think just letting us catch all the legendaries that are available from this instead of making it a huge gamble, but it is what it is. This feature does have the potential to become something useful but right now it's just a big money sink. TL;DR Either remove pseudo legendary spawns and Rotom spawns, make the mysterious tickets much cheaper or add them as boss rewards and give out free mysterious tickets in upcoming season events. I'm not satisfied with a 4% chance of catching my desired legendary and I assume most players would want better odds as well. Thanks for reading another wall of text if you did. Edit: They lowered the price to 75 pvp coins. This is 1 step towards the right direction. Thanks for the support everyone. Edit n2: The price has went back to 100 pvp coins. Edit n3: Thank you for changing it back to 75 coins, staff xD1 point

Hi! i just wanted to make a suggestion to save time and allow games to be done quicker in PVP. There are many scenarios where forfeiting the match and moving on to the next would be the better option rather than playing it out. Some of the examples are like when you know you lose on match up because it is extremely one sided or also when your playing vs stall and it can be super time consuming. This way we can just forfeit and move on to the next game , allowing us to get in more games done rather than being stuck in one game when you could of gotten many done in the time that it took. I Think making a FORFEIT BUTTON would help make pvp faster and will save a lot of time , it is in every competitive pokemon game as well.1 point

Hey guys, I just seem to be unable to log in to my account on the Gold server (I try to log in and it simply says that it was impossible to connect). According to the website, both servers are currently active. Any clue on what might be happening? Cheers.1 point

Everyone can teach Defog to Rotom-W as much as they want now :) Enjoy. One minute please... Rotom-W can currently learn defog as a TM. I know this is incorrect but it is temporary to allow you all to teach your precious washing machine Defog.1 point

It's hard to make a topic and fair discussion on an item that's not even out yet. What I mean by this is, it's all subject to change. The information we have now might not make the final grade. Let me put in my opinion though: The way it is as far as random goes is completely fine with me and that includes having those pseudo-legendaries in there. Why? Because you have quests in place to catch one of your desired legendaries of the trio's and the Ion's. This means you already have the Pokemon you wanted and this is merely increasing pokedex count. Otherwise you'd waste your coins away rerolling the IVs instead of attempting to get new legendaries. The legendaries you get again can't be used in PVP alongside the original one you had and I highly doubt anyone will be taking 2 Suicune to a boss battle. They are literally redundant. As long as the pseudo-legendaries have a shiny chance (Maybe halved.) to warrant their inclusion I see nothing with them at the current percentage they're at. To summarise: Percentages and current Pokemon in the pool should remain as it is. Legendary Pokemon obtained for a second time should give a prompt of three things: Do you want to keep this? If yes, you get a duplicate. If not; 1 free Reroll of the ticket. (forcing you to keep the rewards of the reroll); and a third option of exchanging the repeat legendary for a portion of the currency you obtained it with. (PvE or PvP Coins) Like I mentioned earlier, it's hard to discuss practices that aren't even in motion. Guess we have to wait and see.1 point

+1 Like Smooge said, PRO's metagame is not the same as Smogon's due to the limitations we have when it comes to capturing legendary and Gen 7 Pokemon. In order to maintain a balanced metagame, this needs to happen because of new things being consistently added into the game: Megas, Legendary Pokemon, etc. Smogon is the best competitive Pokemon community out there and their system works well with a PvP council guiding them so I don't see a reason not to try it here. Making PRO better in every aspect should be the focus and a PvP council would be a great addition to make sure this happens. I'm all for both concepts provided above.1 point

Yes, PvP in PRO isn't really something you can avoid. After so long, you've done everything there is to do and so battling other players is kind of the end of the line. But that also means that nobody will be able to avoid the decisions that will be made by this council forever. It's not like Smogon where you can just choose not to take part in it. All of the players of this game will be beholden to the decisions made in some way. It's not about PvP knowledge. It's about setting up a proper system of governance and not just going "This is wonderful idea!" without there being a concrete idea. Staff will have to back this council for any of their rules to go through anyway. What should really happen is that some people with a really comprehensive understanding of the competitive pokemon scene and how their meta's shift should be given a role on staff to moderate the PvP circles of the game. But in becoming staff, they become ineligible to actually play competitively in PRO. Without staff consent this is just five guys setting up tournaments with house rules, and that happens all the time already.1 point

I would assume that the people assigned to this counsel would have vast knowledge in the pvp aspect of the game so therefore I don't think antyhting they would do would tech hurt the game. End game for Pokémon is either like I said in prev posts battle frontier/ filling the dex/ pvp now the pvp area, a lot of people have invest so much time into this game and want a well working pvp system and being like I said before pvp is finally getting the attention it needs I think it's time that we come together and clean up pvp. Having to make post after post after post and waiting several weeks thengetting a pole to possibly agree or disagree to get one Pokémon or ability banned is a bit of an annoyance. So this imo would clean everything up an make pvp how we want it *most people in pro at least* like we had to make a post to get genesect banned and gren is still in ranked and that's saying something. Unless someone steps up and takes full control of pvp and does what's right the this is the other option * you have people with far better pvp knowlage outside of staff fyi*1 point

Is the game's staff willing to support a council of PvP elite making decisions that affect their own welfare and standings within the game? In a normal game, competitive rules are laid out by a staff who aren't eligible for competitive play. Their interest is strictly in making a good and non-toxic gaming experience. In this proposal, the rule-making body is composed of players who have a vested interest in being or remaining the best. As stated, they would be picked from among the best PvP players. If those players are eligible for competitive play, we have to assume that they will make decisions with their own best interests in mind. Who will elect these councilors? How long will a councilor be allowed to remain in the position before a new one must be cycled in? Will who's in the council at any time be public knowledge? There's a lot of decisions that have to go into governance of any body that if made incorrectly could screw things up more than help. And these are things to consider just on setting up the group, not even on making decisions.1 point

This council have to access to ingame PVP datas to see the most used PKM, the PKM with the most win, etc. It would help a lot for decision making. I think Walross is creating a website to make this datas public, but not sure about it.1 point

+1, just need to make sure the right people are on the council. Also, PRO needs its own council because the metagame isn't the same. On showdown you have things such as Kyurem-Black and Hoopa-Unbound and other things PRO may never have just running around the tier, causing their own influence on the metagame. It doesn't take much for a metagame to crumble, just 1 pokemon can make or break the game. For example, if Landorus-t were to disappear from gen 7 OU, the entire tier could potentially fall apart due to the amount of Pokemon it keeps in check. In PRO, I can't really think of a Pokemon that does the same, but I guess Ferrothorn is somewhat similar; being able to check a few things that could potentially be meta-breaking.1 point

+1. We wouldn't want someone who can't code to be a developer just as we don't want someone who's completely new to competetive to be in charge of pvp here. Show us the way1 point

This was an idea in the past that never got totally brought to light, but now that pvp is getting some real attention it may be reasonable to go forward with this. ESP with Megas possibly coming to light and mons like greninja roaming free in ranked. It just needs some support so I 100% like and promote this post1 point

Yeah I agree.Don't see any downside and it could bring only good things to the game, especially the pvp side in my opinion.Take my +11 point
