The fact that Nikola can be abused as a free reroll is part of the reason why new legendaries arent re-obtainable with it. I am pretty sure that Nikola is only still a thing because all old quests would need a slight rework to be re-obtainable in their original location.

No, thats not what Nikola is for. Players abuse the Nikola boss for a free reroll by releasing their legendaries on purpose which shouldnt be done and isnt the intended way for the Nikola boss to be used as Raika already mentioned.

The Nikola boss was added so players have another chance to get the legendary if they accidentally killed it or lost connection during the battle. If that happens during the battle with Keldeo, the Kami trio or other new legendaries you can simply go back to the place you first found it and attempt to catch it again.

Its actually a technical restriction which makes this a problem. The client is unable to save the PP like that currently from what I know. Thats why it is not saving the PP in the first way. This has always been a problem and is a bigger one now with the introduction of Z-Moves. It would be nice if there would be a work-around for that issue until the client is able to actually save the PP.

Try to faint it in a wild battle so it actually loses happiness and then get it to max happiness again during daytime. It has to reach the maximum amount happiness during daytime and not during any other time.

Its not a bug, I got my first one after 46 wins. Its just RNG and bad luck.

Happiness evolutions will only trigger when you actually reach the max amount of happiness and you dont need to level-up, so a mysterious candy is useless here. To evolve your Golbat you would need to lose some happiness by fainting it in wild battle and then get it back up to max happiness again. That should solve it and make your Golbat evolve.

You probably lost it in a wild battle. Maybe to a Nuzleaf with the ability Pickpocket? That happened to a lot of people recently since the ability was just recently coded.
