Cofagrigus, while niche, isn't completely useless. The strongest consistent answer to Conkeldurr in the game is defensive Nasty Plot Togekiss, which actually does a lot in the current metagame and can always come in, even on Ice Punch. However, players like you sitting on a hypothetical PvP Council is precisely why I, many other players, and presumably staff, are wary of the idea. We do not need a mob mentality of 'ban everything I don't like' running the metagame. With that in mind, please stop using a reasonable concept as a dog-whistle for "do everything I want because I can't be bothered to think for myself," which only makes the entire user-base look like fools who cannot be trusted to handle PvP. Conkeldurr is not broken. Play archetypes other than slow balance and semi-stall. Your argument comes off like a Rain player asking for Gastrodon and Mantine to be banned, which is childish to say the least. tl;dr balance breaker gonna break balance, play something else if you don't like

if your faster team is getting smashed by scarfkiss you're doing something very wrong teching against rain is not hard
-
Conkeldurr 28.658% stop running slow teams that get punished by conk, it literally only comes in for free on chansey and ferrothorn, and its bulk really isn't anything special. just maintain momentum, don't get wrecked by mach punch, and it's no more difficult to deal with than any other pokemon. offensive pressure is pretty good in Pokemon

Round 1 starts now. Bracket: https://challonge.com/PROUUFeb2019 PRO Tournaments Unofficial Discord: https://discord.gg/Z5U4pdc teerav and I made the above Discord to standardize tiering for future tournaments. Really sorry I forgot to mention this in the main post, but Manaphy is banned. It has literally no counters even in OU, and with Chansey / Blissey / Ferrothorn MIA it would clearly be broken.

UU Circuit II break
It's been 18 months... but it's back! First off, I'd like to thank the following people (and guilds) for their contributions to the dataset: Gold Silver break
I'm hosting yet another UU tournament, just... seventeen months overdue... Registration will close on February 14th, and the tournament will begin on February 21st. What this means is that any Pokemon over 3.41% usage in my data, collected from over 200 PvP battles on both Gold and Silver ladders over the course of December and January, will be banned from use. In addition, I will be banning several more Pokemon for balance reasons (usage doesn't tell the entire story on an MMO, cf. Latios) as well as those banned by the UU Council in 2017. break
Banlist: break
The following Pokemon are banned by usage: The following Pokemon were Quickbanned in 2017, and will remain as such: The following Pokemon are now Quickbanned, due to balance concerns: The following ability is banned: In addition, anything banned on the PRO Ladder is also banned by proxy. break
Rules break
1. Matches will be 6v6, best of 3. One match will be played per round, which will last a week. Matches are to be played on Pokemon Revolution Online. 2. Standard clauses are in effect. 3. All Pokemon in the above banlist are not usable. Attempting to use these Pokemon will lead to a game loss. 4. Screenshots and recording of battles are not required, but recommended. 5. In the event of a dispute or non-completed match at the deadline, I reserve the right to settle it. All decisions are final. 6. Please don't disappear without warning. (haha very funny coming from me right) 7. Be polite, be respectful, don't flame, and other such common sense. break
Prizes break
Gold: break
Registration break
Simply post in this thread with your IGN to register. Registration closes on February 14th, 2019 (one weeks' time) and Round 1 will begin on February 21st, 2019.

It's certainly possible with heavy moderation, but the moderators themselves would have to be very well-versed in PvP...

I don't see adjusting rarities as an effective way to impact the PvP metagame. All it does is make people pay a little more for the Pokemon they want, or spend that little bit more time hunting. I do agree that we need our own suspect tests, apart from Smogon. Even though Pokemon like Conkeldurr aren't broken per se, they are certainly centralizing. A suspect test metagame without Conkeldurr may prove interesting. However, I'm dubious on whether these will have any effect, considering 80% of players in prior suspect tests did nothing but parrot Smogon or produce no real argument at all.

Glaceon. Sylveon relies on its hidden ability, which is Anticipation as Eevee -> Pixilate as Sylveon.

First off, nice work. It's clear you put a substantial amount of effort into this guide. COME ON MAN >.> Now that that's out of the way, a bit of constructive criticism: - I wouldn't really consider Breloom a strong win condition in this metagame. While it's extremely good in certain matchups such as Sand and Rain, it is also far too easily shut down by bulky Grass-types, and with its low speed also struggles against Offense. - Checking type weaknesses is a proxy for checking threats. Threats are what actually matter. You can have 3 ground-resists and 3 dragon-resists and still be deathly weak to Garchomp because none of said resists can actually handle it at +2. - Smogon is a good starting point - however, don't be afraid to venture away from it! Lure moves and nonstandard EV spreads are often not only good, but optimal on certain teams!
-
I don't see a point to changing this. If it gets to the point where it is harassment, it falls under the harassment rule. The vast majority of these people mean no harm and leave you alone if you politely inform them that you cannot / will not help them. At worst, they're just kids - no need to sanction them.
-
While guild wars are an interesting idea, I personally do not like this implementation. PvP teams and PvE teams differ starkly, and any team someone is carrying on the world map is likely to be a PvE team, likely consisting of a Synchronizer and a False Swiper (for hunting), an HM Slave (for mobility), and perhaps one or two other level 100s to defeat random NPCs. It would be rather difficult to play the rest of the game while simultaneously remaining prepared for sudden PvP. Furthermore, there is also the issue of latency. PRO servers aren't super great, so what might trigger a battle for one person might not trigger it for the other, resulting in a rather awkward situation.

Magnet Pull has easy counterplay (holding back your Steel), unlike Arena Trap, which traps all grounded non-ghost types. For this reason, Magnet Pull is considered balanced, and in my opinion is a healthy component of the metagame, allowing the more efficient removal of bulky defensive Steels.

Can someone help me with a solar team? i would appreciate it
Idkup replied to Mulumunino0210's topic in PvP
If you're new to PvP, I would not recommend Sun. At all. Reasons: 1. Weak matchups overall. Tyranitar, Pelipper, Heatran, Latios, Chansey, Weavile etc. bully you out of the metagame. 2. Sun, like most weather playstyles, tends to have relatively polarized matchups. This is bad for the development of skill - games are often decided at Team Preview, limiting the impact of prediction and strategy. There is little a Sun team can do about Tyranitar and Heatran, besides hoping the opponent makes a significant mistake. 3. Stealth Rock, Spikes, Toxic Spikes. Weather setters need to survive over the course of game to keep weather abusers from being completely worthless. Both Ninetales and Torkoal are highly susceptible to hazard damage, and have limited recovery options to restore their health. As an addendum, Charizard is terrible in PvP due to its 4x Stealth Rock weakness and its lack of immediate game-ending potential of something like Quiver Dance Volcarona. 4. As an addendum to point 2, sun sweepers are far weaker without their weather than their rain and sand counterparts. Excadrill is threatening outside of the sand because of its solid typing and huge Attack. Kingdra possesses reasonable defensive typing and its Specs Draco Meteor is a nuke, regardless of the weather. In contrast, Venusaur is much easier to effortlessly wall, while Entei and Darmanitan lack powerful secondary STAB options. tl;dr don't run sun if you're new -
You seem to think that I am staff. I am not. I cannot lock your posts, nor can I reject your proposals outright. Therefore, it is necessary for me to demonstrate why your ideas are fundamentally flawed, not just to you, but to those who actually make these decisions. Besides, most people prefer discussion rather than having their posts locked with no explanation of why their idea is bad.

You heavily implied that Mold Breaker was a solution for all problematic abilities. Please quit the doublespeak.
-
Mold Breaker only applies to defensive abilities. Speed Boost is not a defensive ability.

I am literally providing you with off-meta sets that either I or my friends have seen success with, while you complain about not being able to use broken mons like Speed Boost Blaziken in the name of platitudes like "meta diversity." If I can win games with a Corsola on my team, a strong enough player should be able to succeed with whatever garbage they want, provided they actually know what they're doing. As for pretending that Whimsicott, Corsola, Porygon2, and Rotom-H see any regular play whatsoever, good riddance. This is the stuff you play if you hate the meta and want to style on people. If you can't find anything new in a Blaziken-less, Dugtrio-less meta, good luck trying to experiment when +2 Blaziken High Jump Kicks are flying around at Scarfed speed tiers and Arena Trap nullifies your wallbreakers at a whim.
-
On one hand, it definitely is irritating to see people be rewarded for consistently average play. (PRO ladder system definitely rewards grinding) On the other, your winrate is its own reward - you can spend a lot less time grinding PvP and achieve the same result. At the end of the day, it really doesn't matter that often, but why not just give coins to everyone involved in a tie at 25th?
-
The diversity is yours to find. In case you weren't aware: Blaziken is banned because no one wants to be forced to run Azumarill / Gyarados / Slowbro / Cofagrigus / Gastrodon on every team for a 50% chance at stopping it, and it renders offensive builds nigh-impossible. Isn't this the opposite of what you want? Please do take a moment to consider the implications before making ridiculous suggestions. The PRO meta is reasonably dynamic currently with plenty of good sets either completely or relatively unexplored. Just because other people are playing the same thing doesn't mean you have to as well. Of course, this will probably negatively affect your winrate, because without a proper understanding of the meta, you cannot effectively counter it. Best of luck. Here's some interesting, yet solid sets for you to try, if you actually want to attempt to play something different: Offensive Options Whimsicott @ Leftovers Ability: Prankster Nature: Bold EVs: 252 HP 252 Def 4 SpD - Memento - Moonblast - Stun Spore - Taunt Salamence @ Life Orb Ability: Intimidate Nature: Naive EVs: 252 Atk 252 Spe 4 SpA - Outrage - Iron Tail - Fire Blast - Earthquake Rotom-Heat @ Choice Specs Ability: Levitate Nature: Modest EVs: 252 SpA 252 Spe 4 HP - Overheat - Thunderbolt - Hidden Power [iCE] - Trick / Volt Switch Venomoth @ Black Sludge Ability: Tinted Lens Nature: Timid EVs: 252 SpA 252 Spe 4 HP - Quiver Dance - Bug Buzz - Roost - Sleep Powder / Sludge Bomb Tyrantrum @ Lum Berry Ability: Rock Head Nature: Adamant EVs: 252 Atk 252 Spe 4 HP - Dragon Dance - Head Smash - Outrage - Earthquake / Fire Fang Breloom @ Toxic Orb Ability: Poison Heal Nature: Jolly EVs: 252 Atk 252 Spe 4 HP - Spore - Superpower / Facade - Seed Bomb / Facade - Swords Dance / Mach Punch Defensive Options Azumarill @ Leftovers Ability: Sap Sipper Nature: Calm EVs: 252 HP 252 SpD 4 Def - Perish Song - Whirlpool - Protect - Rest Gastrodon @ Leftovers Ability: Storm Drain Nature: Relaxed EVs: 252 HP 252 Def 4 SpD - Scald - Earthquake - Toxic - Recover Corsola @ Air Balloon Ability: Regenerator Nature: Bold EVs: 252 HP 252 Def 4 SpD - Scald - Toxic - Stealth Rock - Recover Mantine @ Leftovers Ability: Water Absorb Nature: Calm EVs: 252 HP 252 SpD 4 Def - Scald - Defog - Roost - Toxic Gligar @ Eviolite Ability: Immunity Nature: Impish EVs: 252 HP 252 Def 4 SpD - Earthquake - Roost - Defog - Knock Off / Toxic Porygon2 @ Eviolite Ability: Trace Nature: Calm EVs: 252 HP 120 Def 136 SpD - Recover - Tri Attack / Ice Beam - Shadow Ball / Thunderbolt - Toxic edit: added more sets

im being harassed furthermore, protean greninja is basically only not banned because no one good enough has taken it upon themselves to abuse its ridiculous offensive spikes set as for speed boost blaziken, lmfao
