Sand Veil accuracy.

That's exactly my point, the chance he misses three times in a row is 1 in 125, which while low, isn't astronomically low. It makes sense in context because you don't often have the opportunity to miss three times in a row against Sand Veil Garchomp due to the fleeting nature of sandstorm, but it remains within the realm of possibility.

Sand Veil accuracy.

0.2^3 = 0.008, 1/125. It was bound to happen eventually.
3. C'mon, let me leave it as is for old times' sake :P
4. break
This thread attempts to accurately present the relative power of Pokemon in PRO's Ranked Battle format. This is not meant to be the end-all, be-all resource for teambuilding, and neither is it intended that you always pick the highest ranked option. Viability exists in tandem with synergy - teams that cannot capitalize on each others' strengths are doomed to fail. With that in mind, this is a good initial resource to use when first approaching Ranked PvP, and should in time be replaced with your own experience. break
break
S-Rank - These Pokemon define the metagame. They either perform several roles exceptionally well or possess incredible flexibility. Not being able to answer S-Rank Pokemon consistently is tantamount to throwing games. A-Rank - These Pokemon are extremely good at one thing or decent at several in the metagame, usually requiring little support to function. The ability to deal with A-Rank Pokemon remains of vital importance. B-Rank - These Pokemon are solid picks in the metagame, but tend to require some support to work. C-Rank - These Pokemon possess a single, well-defined niche in the metagame, and will likely only fit on specialized teams. Ambipom-Rank - If you are using any of these Pokemon, you are not playing to your full potential. Within tiers, Pokemon are listed in alphabetical order. break
break
S Rank A+ Rank A Rank A- Rank B+ Rank B Rank B- Rank C+ Rank C Rank C- Rank Ambipom Rank break
If you would like to discuss a Pokemon's ranking, please make a post which indicates both current and desired rankings, and provides a solid explanation. Keep in mind that viability is not usage - how often a Pokemon is seen on the ladder alone is not a good argument for its placement. Personal anecdotes are also not good arguments for adjusting the placement of a Pokemon. With that in mind, discuss away :) break
Thanks to: Ironcoque, anthonyliu, dangarangs, and Fairview for substantial assistance compiling the initial version of this list Jorogumo and sgt bianco for substantial contributions to updating this list Shaui & other staff for letting me take over this thread Aphotyx's old thread for the headers Team Magma for being the best guild in the game

6. C/P'd from my teambuilding guide - some questions to answer yourself: How does this team win games? How quickly does this team expect to win games (what archetype am I playing)? How does this team provide hazard pressure and alleviate that of the opponent? Do all of my chosen Pokemon, moves, items, nature, ability, and EVs make sense in the context of my win condition? How exactly does each Pokemon contribute to the team? What synergies do they have with other members? Can I answer teams looking to overwhelm mine before I can respond? Can I answer teams looking to slowly chip mine while I fail to break through? Generalizations aside, Drain Punch is banned on PRO, so you'll have to replace that. I don't really see any direction with the team - I can't tell what it's meant to do. You should know how you intend to win most of your games before you ever leave the teambuilder.

8. Wow these are really well-done
9. Roar has negative six priority lmao
10. 7/1 Changes Fixes Fixed Mew (0) Additions Added Magnezone (252 30 IV [HP FIRE]) Added Mandibuzz (0) Added Talonflame (+Spe 252) Added Donphan (0) <-- Don't use this mon. Speed tier purely for reference. Added Mantine (0) Added Smeargle (+Spe 252) Italics (on the spreadsheet) indicate Pokemon ranked lower than B- on my viability rankings. Besides Donphan, these Pokemon are not recommended as they only fit on specifically tailored teams. However, they are certainly viable. Donphan, on the other hand, fits on no teams. It's bad, don't use it if you want to win.
11. Updates Slowbro A -> B Slowbro doesn't really check much of anything in the current metagame. It finds itself lacking the bulk to reliably handle setup sweepers like Swords Dance Excadrill and Garchomp, while being incredibly vulnerable to Toxic in defensive matchups. Its Psychic typing is a liability in a metagame infested by Knock Off, leaving it a generally worse option than other bulky waters such as Suicune and Milotic. Gengar A- -> A Despite the loss of Levitate, Gengar is still a premier balance breaker in the metagame. Few Pokemon can afford to switch into both its STABs and Focus Blast, and those that can are often shut down by Taunt. It even has options such as Icy Wind, Thunderbolt, and Energy Ball to lure specific threats, or Will-o-Wisp to cripple physical Dark-types looking to come in on Shadow Ball or Sludge Wave. Levitate was nice, but Gengar's appeal was always its offensive prowess. Milotic B -> B+ As previously mentioned, Psychic typing is a defensive liability. With its competition in Slowbro performing poorly, it is logical that Milotic is a better choice - furthermore, it is one of the best answers to Belly Drum Azumarill available. Slowking C- -> C+ While typing holds Slowbro back in current conditions, Slowking possesses a niche as one of the few Pokemon able to avoid a 2HKO from Choice Specs Kingdra under the rain. Unlike Assault Vest Tangrowth, it also holds its own against Pelipper, giving it a respectable role as a tech Pokemon against Rain. Scizor A -> B+ The loss of a playable U-Turn cripples the Choice Band set, leaving Scizor quite one-dimensional. In the meantime, the rise of defensive Quiver Dance Volcarona, which turns Swords Dance Scizor into an utter liability, considerably frustrates it. There are simply too many switch-ins to Bullet Punch around for Swords Dance Scizor to maintain an A ranking alone. Defensive sets, currently unexplored, may show promise, but it is difficult to see what exactly they successfully answer - Skarmory and Ferrothorn are already phenomenal defensive Steels.

13. The devs will not deliberately introduce anything to the battle system not present in the main series.
14. I believe based on my criterion only Mandibuzz was missed, but I'll also add several common mons that I consider poor choices in the next update.
15. if im allowed to i might change one of the 5 last mons before tournament starts :v gmt-4
16. Gold is generally considered the weaker PvP server*, but I believe it also has cheaper prices. You'll find a welcoming community on either server. *I don't agree with this sentiment but whatever P.S. join gold thanks

Team preview

Because something clunky like revealing your entire team in battle chat with stats and all (which no novice is going to bother doing anyways) is a good replacement for team preview

19. Taunt followed by a hard switch into the Latios would have produced the same result.
20. It could have just used Taunt for the same effect...
21. It has the same effect as a bug. It warps the metagame more than a bug. Not implemented < Minor bug
22. I'd say the lack of Team Preview is a much greater mechanical bug than this one. Ban PvP until team preview is introduced.
23. You are warping your playstyle in any case. PRO's metagame is unique with the lack of megas, team preview, z-moves, landorus-therian, and all the things that make gen 7 gen 7. One small additional mechanical bug is no reason to ban the most fundamental offensive item in the game. Stall is a math formula if built correctly. You should have answers upon answers upon answers to the point where it doesn't matter if you get crit. It's a slow grind which will inexorably end with you winning the game, provided the opponent cannot stop you by breaking open your defenses and winning point.
