Hey, first of all, thanks for clicking on this thread. Please note: I'm not banned and never used any sort of hacks, so this thread is not about me. Last few months a lot of people get banned for using an unauthorized software, having too many alt accounts etc. All of these charges were made by a anti-hack bot. Sadly, this bot/system doesn't work properly, because people that get banned are often innocent and get banned for nothing. Why would someone who played hundreds or even thousands of hours a game risk his progress only to use a weird software to hack? Of course there are a few people that probably did use a hacking software, but most of them didn't. Friends of mine got banned while they had +/- 1000 hours playing time and spent almost $100... All of this because of a anti-hack system which isn't working properly. There is an option to create an appeal on the forums, but when the banned people try to explain that they aren't banned the staff won't listen and trust the system more than the banned people. The banned people try to proof themselves that they're innocent, but sadly nobody believes them... My suggestion is: get a new anti-hack system and let the appeals be there to let the banned people proof their innocent (also recheck all the current banned people). First of all, I will start off by saying that the recent ban wave of many macro users is a very welcome movement. Nevertheless, I'm most concerned about the fact that the GMs are currently still unable to show the evidences to the banned user. In an ideal world, evidence should be provided while ensuring that showing them won't enable potential breaching of the system. I understand that it is not possible to do so atm. I still do hope that Eaty and other staffs would be able to figure out an alternative solution for this. Because currently, it does make me and other players feel unsafe to go for an intensive hunt, afraid of getting banned incorrectly by the new system, and get no chance to appeal properly because no evidence would be shown. I have friends who got banned and admitted they used macro. I also have friend who got banned and swore with his life that he did not macro. It really makes me feel sad to think he might really did not macro and a mistake happened. An evidence being shown would return peace of mind to all parties here. Most specifically, I hope the anti-cheat system does not include something so simple like a staff pms a player, he's afk and do not respond, or don't want to respond, thereby largely influence the probability of him getting identified as a macro user. Many hunters enjoy multi-tasking, so not getting disturbed by random pm is a right they should have. Not answering a pm might cause suspicion, but should not be a deterministic factor in this case. I hope you will be able to shed some lights for us with this, about whether there would be plan to fix the "can't show evidence" issue, and whether the system uses some primitive methods like the "not answering pm" example i just showed to determine a macro user. Hey there, I am Qeight, one of the newer Game Masters, before that I was the Moderator Team Lead. I asked for this thread to be moved into public viewing again as I believe there is value in having our viewpoints stated publicly as well. The post is a bit of a mix so I'll dissect the points 1 by 1. All bans, are manual bans. Automated bans haven't been taking place for quite a long time now ( around 2+ years). You are hitting on two completely different subjects as well. Unauthorized software is something like botting software, speedhacks, any kind of third party software while having "too many accounts" are simple mistakes that get unbanned in 99/100 cases, the 1 case being someone who yells and insults staff for their ban (even though they haven't read the rules). Good question, we don't know. I banned people with 6000 hours and 6 hours for doing the same thing, unfortunately your hours, status, money donated and what not don't matter when banning someone. We have to treat all players equally and fairly, based on the punishment policy. Friends often lie, it's the internet, nobody wants to be seen as a cheater. If you can put your hands in a fire for a friend, you will get burned if they swear they didn't cheat. The appeal center is there for honest players, unless you are banned for investigation purposes you are guilty. It's not "innocent until proven guilty", we banned you because we proved that you were guilty through methods we never gonna disclose. We are not disclosing them for obvious reasons. It really depends on the ban itself, all are done manually to ensure there isn't anything wrong with the bans. If you are banned for macro- usage or any 3rd party programs you are guilty by default otherwise you wouldn't have been banned. Mass-account bans are often due to people sharing accounts, it is indeed very hard to distinguish who is who sometimes, if you have 30 accounts use the same device. Mass account bans are 99/100 cases successful and people get unbanned. Here is my take on this, PRO had an automated system during the time Shane was still a Dev. The system flagged you for simply lagging out, creating bans that weren't accurate. There were a few auto bans like "Auto Ban: S2" was one of the more faulty ones while "Auto Ban: Third Party Software" was 100% accurate. This system was removed a very long time ago and replaced with something way more secure made by Eaty. What exactly gets detected, how detection works is only need-to-know basis within staff as well. At first nobody was getting banned and then people got banned in waves, this of course raised questions about how detection works even within staff. I was by far the loudest voice against it because the story was always the same "I didn't do anything", "I didn't cheat" & so on. I was only a Moderator at the time, not a Game Master who deals with this kind of stuff but I had my doubts and I made my doubts be heard loudly. However overtime bans slowed down, people were still getting banned for it, the bans were made more severe over time to a permanent ban for users' who cheat. Eaty is very confident in his anti-cheat and we have to trust that. It would be not logical to think that Eaty wants people to be banned for no reason or faulty bans. It goes against everything Eaty is trying with this game. I came to that realization after I left staff for 3 months. I would correct that, we banned more than 10 users, some of those were detected months ago but weren't banned due to shortage of GMs. This is on us but we are catching up, hence you might see increased numbers of bans. I think you are confusing something, yes anti-cheats can not detect all cheats, that's a fault on the anti-cheat but saying our system is faulty because "people are innocent get banned"? Our system detects known cheat programs to us. The chances that you are detected and innocent equal 0. It stays open till people starts insulting staff or yell at each other.2 points

Once you finish kanto story, and go to johto, all your kanto pokemons will get locked and you'll start johto story with a new starter, low level pokemons. However, once you beat all johto gyms, you will be able to access your kanto pokemons for beating elite 4 or other quests. Also, once you finish johto story, you will be able to use johto pokemons in kanto too. The same goes for hoenn and sinnoh. In short, for beating 8 gyms of each region, u cant use pokemons from other regions.2 points

Hello everyone! After search a bit about all bosses, compare their teams, trying to find counters etc.. i ended up making this team that can defeat any boss in the game. Might take a bit getting all this pokes but 100% worth to do it. HOW TO USE IT If the first pokemon used by the boss is a physical attacker you should put Gyarados, Intimidate will cute his attack, now you keep switching between Slowbro and Gyarados until you cut all enemy pokemon attack. After that you are going to put Umbreon and spam Flash. Now you can use Snorlax and stack amnesia and curse, if snorlax dies you repeat the process and stack clefable or Slowbro depending on the boss team. If the first pokemon is a Special Attacker use Umbreon and spam Flash, then use Snorlax/Clefable/Slowbro to stack! Chansey will be your cover when needed. Don't worry, if there is a loophole or anything. I will most likely find it, I am usually the staff who goes against other staffs which doesn't make me very popular. As of now, detection methods are very good. I could guess but I know who you are talking about, I invite everyone to file complaints. If you can't trust a GM or an Admin, or 2 Admins. Then sadly there isn't much we can do for you. At that point people will simply say the staff team is corrupt but it goes against what most want for this game. We want an active game with many different players but without cheaters. Unfortunately there will be more in the future, its a fight that will never end.1 point

We had a case where 3 cousins lived together who all had 4 different accounts. It's fine, mass account bans happen but they get unbanned as I said 99/100 cases. It's not a very serious offense however still is under GMs due to the fact that mass account more often than not is related to cheating or real money trades.1 point

Oh, our system aren't detecting random things. e.g Valorants anti-cheat detected and blocked known CPU/GPU softwares from working. Our system is detection known stuff to use in this game. I won't pretend to fully understand how it works, only the Dev would know.1 point

That seems a little too far imo . EVERY major game company , has messed up with the anti-cheat system , big ban waves that ban innocent people as well , claiming that the Anti-cheat system is flawless is far from truth . No anti cheat system can detect every hack , and not everything that gets detected is a hack . As far as the appeal system goes , that's not only for people banned for the use of third party software . With that being said I agree with the OP1 point

As Euripides said, all caught pokemon's ID is 0 until the database updates and saves its info. You can make it save your pokemon by logging out just after you caught it.1 point

The ID is 0 when you catch it, it's normal. It gets it normal ID after a few minutes or you can relog or use /save in the chat1 point

You report is usefull and will help me. Did you disconnected while you was in battle ? Or only after a battle? Do you remember which pokemon was in your team and also if some of them was dead ? If one was dead, it was in first or another position in your team ? You said that after playing on mobile the bug was gone, it's still the case for your PC client ? This is a well-written post, and certainly the most eloquent argument in favor of a ban on Baton Pass yet - that it will become a problem in the future, and thus, we should act preemptively to deal with it before it becomes an issue. However, I disagree on a fundamental level about the properties of uncompetitive strategies and at what point they should be deemed banworthy. We discussed this on Discord yesterday, but I feel the conversation is worth carrying on here. I posited that the current metagame, despite all the complaints, is in fact healthy because a large variety of playstyles are viable. You responded that balance is weak, which is true, and a polarized metagame with a lot of hyper offense and stall is not healthy. I then argued that the weakness of balance had little to do with its ability to win any given match, but rather that it was much more likely to lose to a weaker opponent, as the playstyle is less forcing than offense, which can dictate momentum in the hands of a skilled player, and stall, which can outlast nearly anything with perfect play. This combined with PRO heavily punishing losses to weak players, I argued, is the reason for the poor state of classic balance on ladder. I have a unique and biased perspective on Baton Pass. After all, I built the infamous team that got us here in the first place: https://pokepast.es/6563a3fc106521a2 . Everything that follows is about that team specifically and some quirks that may or may not have been covered by others in this thread already. Firstly, this team was built to be uncompetitive. All of my teams are. Not attempting to limit counterplay is, simply put, a teambuilding mistake. The more chances you give your opponent to play the game, the more chances your opponent has to win. With this in mind, it easily capitalizes on small mistakes from offensive teams, and will never lose to a team that does not have answers nor offensive pressure in competent hands. The most important turn for Baton Pass is Team Preview - against offense, lines ten turns deep can easily be precisely calculated, and forced wins against poorly-constructed teams can be evident from turn 0 and carried out. This certainly sounds broken and banworthy, doesn't it? However, the very predictability which allows a Baton Pass player to take over and annihilate weaker players without concern also makes the team subpar against good players. A good opponent can easily identify the Baton Pass player's win condition on the other side of the board and utterly deny it with minimal preparation - for example, keeping Clefable at above 90% HP so that Manaphy can never get through, barring an errant Ice Beam freeze or critical hit. Ultimately, Baton Pass is another style of Hyper Offense - one that trades off power against other offensive teams for a slightly better balance matchup and dominance against the unprepared. Secondly, the team struggles against some very common threats. Clefable, obviously, can shut down the team's 'uncompetitive' gameplan on its own, forcing it to play like conventional offense until it is eliminated or sufficiently weakened. Ferrothorn can only be handled by Lucario or Flamethrower Togekiss, and Lucario can be worn down very easily, especially if it is played with Garchomp as a partner. The team plays no hazard control, so Stealth Rock makes its life much more difficult. It struggles, as previously mentioned, against offensive teams in general, as it is difficult to dictate your gameplan against a faster team. Contrary to popular belief, however, Rain is a favorable matchup for Baton Pass - Kingdra can be traded off with Garchomp's Sash and generally cannot come in on any attacks, making it easier for a skilled Baton Pass player to set up checkmate than a comparable Rain player. The team has no switch-in to the common Gengar, and must attempt to sweep first if confronted by it. With perfect play, Baton Pass simply does not beat common builds of Stall, such as this frankly less competitive team: https://pokepast.es/bce1e153e8df21b4 (indeed, this team was built after two frustrating games against Gengar on Baton Pass), as it can never get through a healthy Clefable without extreme luck. Thirdly, Baton Pass is not easy to play. It requires accurate calculation from Team Preview and, at the very least, a fundamental understanding of how the team works. Failure to identify your win condition in Team Preview is tantamount to losing. For example, leading Scolipede is almost always a mistake - if you do not win on the spot, you've given over two turns to your opponent while making no threats (Protect and Baton Pass), which your opponent can use more effectively - for example, by setting Stealth Rock and dealing significant damage to the Baton Pass recipient. Baton Pass's broken mechanics turn some otherwise forced wins into 50/50s. My own winrate the first season I played this team was quite abysmal, and I would expect similar for most others. Lastly, it must be considered how far we are willing to go to defend a qualitative standard of 'competitiveness'. Anything involving luck is, by definition, uncompetitive - cheapening the value of prediction. OHKO moves are banned for that reason, but what about Focus Blast? Serene Grace? King's Rock? Air Slash? Hydro Pump? I've even lost to a Shadow Ball SpD drop in the past, should that be banned? If beating unprepared teams consistently is an issue, we must take a serious look at stall, which is capable of posting 90%+ winrates in the right hands, simply because there is nothing to be done unless the stall player makes a mistake or the opponent is explicitly prepared. I, personally, do not think the state of stall is an issue - in the same vein, I do not think Baton Pass beating unprepared players is an issue. Neither Baton Pass nor stall has forced an archetype out of the metagame - instead, both have demanded minor adjustments to contest them, which is in no way unhealthy. Now, will Baton Pass be unhealthy in the future? Almost certainly, yes. Substitute, Magearna, Necrozma, and Z-Crystals, and a working Baton Pass will remove the necessity of carefully removing counters and weakening checks, and at that point, something will have to go. However, banning it now would be tantamount to banning Salamence because of Salamencite, or Mew because of Mewnium Z. This is the wrong time and place for a Baton Pass ban, and there are far more powerful threats to address if there is truly a desire to shatter a healthy metagame using executive action because it is boring. There are still so many facets of this metagame that are insufficiently explored...1 point
